Name a better creature design then the dementors.
Name a single one as well portrayed in film, overall concept, one that has kept its mystery and hasn't been overexposed, a creature as visual creepy and frightning.

Dementors are the end all be all of spectacular design and execution. The alien design is a close second but still second

>Remember the first time you saw prisoner of azkaban? When the train gets dark and dealy silent. The cold breath of the frightened children fill the screen and you realize something, some horrible presence, is approaching. You witness our hero Harry fill with the sickly feeling of dread. "Could it be voldemort himself nearing the cold cabin harry so helplessly inhabits?", you think to yourself. Its not until its too late that you realize its something much worse. That's when you see the windows of the cabin cover and crackle with ice. As the characters and the viewers mind race at the horrible possiblilties of what lurks just down the isle of the train, you see a small shape just past the cold glass of the cabin. As your mind whirls you recognize the shape as what seems to be a dead and disfigured bony hand. The dreadful shape that follows the hand cannot be described, you have to see the creature to understand. For it is a dementor

They were more just hanging around the school expecting the prisoner to go there. They weren't allowed on campus and the children were told not to approach them. Hogwarts is dangerous as fuck
>>
>>69120298
they were like wild animals; they protect a place in a leash sure but they aren't exactly loyal to you

Kind of true. Dementors are more disturbing because we have no Idea what they really are, or where they came from. They're just these things that go around feeding on people's happiness, and draining souls.
>>
>>69120298
They're creatures of darkness, but in a way, not subject to human concepts of good and evil. They worked for the ministry to keep wizard prisoners in line, but they ended up joining forces with Voldemort later, because he had more to offer them, and ended up spreading despair and hopelessness to the Muggle world.
>>
>>69122210
They must have been on the BvS set.

They'll work for whoever can feed them souls.

In book 6, and is shown in the last movies at the battle at Hogwarts, when dementors attack the school, and Aberforth drove them away.

I personally love the xeno from the first Alien, not only was its lifestyle fleshed out but it was an intimidating and alien (lol) creature.
It was lethal, but still liked to hide and ambush. I know that when I first saw Alien when I was about 12 or 13, I was shitscared of the thing.

Great movie but there's no definitive creature design

I find alien from the Thing disturbing. Gory practical effects are a great but it's not what scares me about it. The fact that it talked to crew members and could mimick human behaviour so well is what creeps me the fuck out about it. You see it as fleshy monsterosity and then you see that it can act and talk like human.
