I personally love the xeno from the first Alien, not only was its lifestyle fleshed out but it was an intimidating and alien (lol) creature.
It was lethal, but still liked to hide and ambush. I know that when I first saw Alien when I was about 12 or 13, I was shitscared of the thing.

I find alien from the Thing disturbing. Gory practical effects are a great but it's not what scares me about it. The fact that it talked to crew members and could mimick human behaviour so well is what creeps me the fuck out about it. You see it as fleshy monsterosity and then you see that it can act and talk like human.
