Magnificent 7 trailers out.
Can it be good? Or shit straight away?
speaking of westerns pic related comes out in like 2 months and we have seen nothing, literally the worst marketing ever
i was wrong, there were only 5 quips in the whole trailer.
i don't like remakes or that multi-cultural shit, but it doesn't look that bad, probably because i'm glad to watch new westerns.
but for fucks sake, i wish it doesn't get sequel.
The director fo me is the most okayish director ever.
I don't love all his movies, but I don't have any problems with them
i consider the original magnificent seven to be more of an adaptation for western audiences so i would give it a pass. what i don't understand is how hard is it to make a script for a brand new ip instead of shitting out a remake
dunno what you're talking about
in the original Magnificent 7 the bad guys are Mexicans, in The Searchers they're Indians, and in TGTBTU the Union and Confederate troops are portrayed roughly equally with neither being 'evil' or 'good'
I can't actually think of a Western that I've seen where Confederate troops were the antagonists
>6 white guys and a sort of Mexican kid defend a town of Mexican peasants from a Mexican bandito gang
>also shoot a bunch of racists so they can bury the body of a dead black man in the town graveyard
>4 white guys and token black, asian, and full on warpainted injun fight a white gang attacking white settlers
Objectively best black Western actor of all time coming through
>he hasn't watched the movie
I was talking about the movie titled "Django"
I wasn't talking about Django Strikes Again or any of the 30 something ripoff Djangos where they just put Django in the title to cash in on the name, such as Django: Unchained
I don't know. When it comes to gang movies like that I think the more diverse they are the more interesting it is. It is like avengers only their race is their super power.
Also only white people can play decent villains. Everybody else just seems too weak and non-threatening.
The original was a comfy western which I still watch time to time, this looks nothing like it, it looks like "Django 2: Guardians of the Galaxy"
I'm not saying its a bad movie, but why the fuck do they call it the "The magnificent seven"? I know I know, name recognition and money, but... its just fucking sad.
Another remake just like the new Ghostbusters ""reboot"" but with all male cast (+ a random jap), and a more whitewashed story.
I imagine the majority of you will have no objections against this movie
Wait, what? This is happening? Oh wow, neat.
>/pol/ in the back of my mind, "more like Diversity 7"
>shhh, /pol/, please. let me give it a chance. at least me see OP's pic first before jumping to conclusions.
>look at it
>/pol/ was right again
Annnnnd dropped. Dropped this film literally seconds after finding out about it.
I hope you all realize that there were black law men back in the Old West
Still boycotting Sony over ruining my childhood with Ghostbusters
I would boycott, Feig, McCarthy, Wiig, the negress and the lesbian too, but I never watched anything they were in before ghostbusters so a boycott of them really wouldn't have that much impact.
Anyway fuck Sony. Childhood ruining cucks.
Thought it was going to be a meme movie but it's looking pretty good desu senpai
All aboard the PC hype train. Next stop: never.
He is the most famous but there were others.
It's actually not that far off to depict Chinese and black cowboys, deputies, and what not because many people were needed for these jobs in the West back then and there weren't enough white people to fill all the spots
>they didn't just make a Bass Reeves movie staring Denzel
>they cranked out another remake instead
See, this is my problem with Hollywood. People bitch about Elba possibly being cast as Bond, or white roles being blacked, or vice versa, when there are plenty of stories out there that are just completely ignored. Instead of just shitting out another mindless remake, they could have made an original movie with an actual black character who actually did exist IRL.
kind of talky
McQueen and Coburn are pretty cool
still can't figure out how Brynner became a star
bald manlet with a thick accent
Bronson is doing some weird accent. Supposed to be Mexican maybe?
The young kid is annoying.
Eli Wallach is pretty good as a Mexican bandit for a New York jew.
I don't understand the /pol/ hate honestly, Magnificent Seven was cozy remake for another movie.
Now you got a buncha diverse cast and trying to cash in on that Washington/Hawke chemistry as well. Just with the mediocre director and AyyLmaoSony trying to cash in on another remake, the forced diversity is like the 8th thing wrong with it, if you really want to complain about it.
i don't hate chris pratt 2bh, he's be like the 10th thing wrong with it
Why are confederates above being faceless villains over any other group of people?
I think it's due to how brief the Civil War was in western history, and how many western states were slave states to begin with.
Also, contrary to what you'd believe a lot of old Civil War movies take place from the pov of the south though mostly just romanticizing the Antebellum more than slavery
I don't think it's funny, I'm not patting myself on the back or anything. I was just replying to a shitpost with a shitpost. It's common practice here. That's all you've been doing anyways tbqhfampai
Well at least you are admitting you are shitposting.
And I just said I don't think mexicans make good villains nowadays. You had your /pol/ spergout about "muh white villains"
that's just the director's incompetence and nobody is giving a shit just cashing in on a remake, probably going through it quick.
i can't really expect a good movie, but hell i don't know how they worked things in production, if it was onset or cgi crap
I never said shit about any white villains nigga, take a step back. You're the one having a /pol/episode with your "lelz no one takes Mexicans seriously" outbursts. If you really wanna take that conversation further then take it to /pol/.
>>the lone ranger
>>two rode together
Things I hate about you
>>The Dirty Dozen
days at peking
so they pretty much just remade it with niggers and gooks, the prevailing demographic groups in america by 2035. it's like living in some orwellian dystopia where ministry of truth has to constantly rewrite books and movies for new dumber generation of prole audience
As much as I want to shit on it for being another Hollywood cash-in remake the sets, costumes, locations, and effects all looks nice. Will definitely give it a solid pirate because I love Western visuals done nicely.
It's looks a little too silly to actually be good, but it might be a fun time. Looks really violent, which I appreciate but it's a bummer that it's PG13. Denzel's character is channeling the Fred Williamson movies Joshua and Boss Nigger, similar outfits and those are based movies, I think it will be a forgettable but relatively enjoyable film. Who knows though, could be surprisingly good or absolutely terrible
/tv/ is a twisted and cut testicle away from /pol/. Don't try and make it better
>Sony fucking up my favorite western of all time
Thanks OP, I had managed to forget this thing existed for a while.
