The tomatometer barely counts when it comes to movies pre-millenium. That movie had really good reception when it came out, alot of it was just in print.

>>
>>72112424
lol I forgot about the critic conspiracy against this series. So blatant when you look at the audience score.
>>
>>72112522
Considering Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason Lives, Freddy vs Jason and Jason goes to hell exist I'd say it's a good reboot.

More-so because it ends where the series was good. Part 4 wasn't bad though.
>>

>>

why do you hate fun?
>>
>>72112424
Wait, what the fuck? I just watched that a couple weeks ago, and it was perfectly fine. It didn't even get diversity bucks for having a 99% asian cast?
>>
>>72112607
I'm not clamming those other films were good. I'm saying that for something to be considered a good reboot it has too kick off a franchise.
>>
>>72112795
I honestly can't explain how dramatically it was hated.
Also, Season 2 came out not too long ago. I strongly advise you to check it out, I loved the first season, but the second is definitely better.
>>
>>72112806
Doesn't seem like any old horror franchises are taking off anymore.
>>
>>72112844
I saw that it was out. Season 1 left me satisfied but not dying for more. I'll probably end up checking out that ET pastiche first.

Was there an obvious reason that critics hated it, though? I'm honestly confused as to why it would be so low.
>>
>>72112874
I think reboots in general are waning in popularity. They've done it enough that people no longer trust old name brands to still be good. Maybe we'll finally get a period with decent OC again.
>>
>>72112874
That's because most sheep out there think scary is when a loud noise happens and something flashes on screen.
>>
>>72112961
Considering what horror movies we've got now I don't think decent OC is happening anytime soon.
>>
>>72111033
Why can't you like both. Stop comparing and start enjoying. Fucking 9gagger
>>
>>72113006
I'm talking any genre. I'm sick to death of reboots and sequels making up such a significant portion of the top charts every year.

Well if Ghostbusters is anything to go by genderswap reboots and sequels might be the new trend. No clue if it did well enough, but Hollywood works in retarded ways.
Pretty sure R rated super hero films are more likely.
>>
>>72112912
>Was there an obvious reason that critics hated it, though? I'm honestly confused as to why it would be so low.
There's really weren't any glaring flaws that could justify anything like the reaction it got from critics. I mean, it's not perfect. Some parts were a bit rushed, some scenes weren't shot as well as they could've been, the budget could've been bigger, etc. but the actors all performed well, tension was built well, the sets looked quite good and the writing was decent. I can't explain it. And that disparity between critic and user scores seems fishy to me.
>>
>>72113085
This one wasn't so bad. I mean, it got a tiny bit silly towards the end, but it wasn't terrible.
>>
>>72113118
Yeah I think it was a 7.5/10
>>
>>72113106
$48 million opening weekend, which is probably a bad sign. Judging by budget and likely marketing budget, they're looking at $500 million before they make a cent. China's only giving them a limited release, and they often make the largest portion of the international money. Hard to know just yet, but I'm not particularly bullish.
>>
>>72112795
It ain't diversity if it don't include jews and niggers. Not even /pol/ing bro, im serious.
>>
>>72113117
I don't think all of the actors were great, but the stable for asian actors isn't really that deep since there aren't usually big productions like this.

>>72113190
I don't think jews make it considered to be diverse, but I'll agree that the blacks have basically managed to make diversity entirely about them. The term person of color seems to be solely used by black people as a way of implying that all non-white people are on their side.
>>
>>72113159
They'll probably make the majority of the money off the franchise name and merchandising alone and that will be incentive enough for a sequel.
>>
>>72110434
You could say they are.... hacks

This movie is incredibly watchable. My dad always hated it because "not enough water to flood that much and it would be raining all the time" and it never rains in the movie. Science frustrated him. I watched this movie a lot, and he'd roll his eyes. I mean, it's a movie/world where there was a enough ice on the planet to flood the whole world. It'd not OUR earth. Suspension of disbelief man....

Im just saying let them adapt other things. Speed Racer probably didn't have much appeal as a movie in 2008, Iron Man took a lot of attention, and still does to this day. Give the wachowskis a property that the public wants a movie of and Im sure they'd knock it out.
