It has nothing to do with laziness. Animation production has limitations on time, money and staff and you can't have everything. Not even Disney's supposedly perfect features had everything.
Anime chooses to focus on quality over quantity, so while they could have a lot more animation than they do now they would have to reduce quality. That said, people exaggerate the limitedness of the animation to a fantastical degree. Probably because they've watched hardly any anime and just repeat what they've heard.

If anime animators wanted to be lazy then why would they have such extravagantly detailed and complex character designs that are always shaded? Why would they bother with things like three-dimensional camera movement and foreshortening? Why go through the trouble of, say, drawing an MG-42 as it appears in real life instead of just making up something that looks vaguely like a machine gun? And so on.

It's a single series out of thousands, and even if they copy the choreography of a fight they still have to animate it, which may be a lot of work depending on what kind of fight it is. Storyboarding something is the easy part; actually animating it is where things get difficult.

I must be some kind of mutant since I'm the only one in these shit threads who prefers the original. The ending to Bloodlust was nice but I consider it the Fury Road to the original Vampire Hunter D's Mad Max. It's flashy and fast but I feel like it skimps on substance for the sake of that.
The first one felt like a fantastic homage to Hammer-Horror/Mario Bava while doing its own thing and looking great. The new one's aesthetic felt too slick for classic horror. It's an incredibly nice looking movie but I'll always be more fond of the original.

I enjoyed the movie the first time I saw it, but repeat viewings left me pretty cold. The very first part, the Yellowline race, is what I find the most interesting; the Redline race is so chaotic and broken up that it barely resembles a real race anymore and only gets tense again at the very end. The animation's amazing at times, but when I don't care for what's happening it doesn't really matter. The parts inbetween all the action can't really hold my attention in repeat viewings.
I would've loved a 'short' 45 minute movie with more race action like the Yellowline sequence instead of the overly chaotic and drawn out Redline race.

People like to tout the meme that it took seven years to animate, but that's not entirely the case, it was in production hell for seven years, animation was only a couple.
