Without getting too spoilery, the ids are lost in the sewer system. In order to tap into this mystic force that links them and helps them (the turtle), Bev offers the others to fuck her one at a time to calm down and get back into this state of mind.
It's incredibly jarring and uncomfortable to read, but so is the entire book. In my opinion, the story itself wouldn't lose anything with that scene removed, but the book would lose some of the horror and discomfort the reader feels reading it.
