>movie acknowledges that they're narrating only to explain "big words" to the audience
>Then throws in a pretty actress, naked to explain further while breaking the fourth wall to include said retarded audience and make em laugh

Have you ever been so insulted by a movie?
Should I even continue watching this?

I cringed hard at that part. They do it twice more with Selena Gomez playing blackjack and Anthony Bourdain cooking something. Those ones aren't nearly as bad, but the Margot Robbie one kind of irked me.

I stopped watching like 10 minutes after this scene. It's just a very bad, uninteresting movie.

They make a point early on to say the only reason those "big words" exist in the first place is so the average person thinks bankers know way more than them. What they did with the movie was the exact opposite. On purpose.

I thought this was kinda jarring too. The naked girl was pretty insulting, it's like the directors think I'm only gonna pay attention to something if there's a hot, half naked girl discussing something. Like i'm gonna hang my tongue out and drool at her hue hueh ue.

Also I hate anthony bourdain so fucking much. It was a whatever movie and I honestly had a hard time following along due to little things like this. Bad direction?
>>
>>71962856
Keep watching. You may learn a thing or two.
>>
They do it so the high school kid audience that will watch this every sub day in the future will pay some fucking attention. It's fine.

I just rewatched Wolf of Wall Street, and it's the same way. Leo will break the 4th wall and describe some scheme they were pulling off, then half way through the explanation he's like "You don't understand anything I'm saying, but the important thing is we were making a fortune and breaking the law"

Muthafucka I have a business degree, I'm actually interested in what the hell you were doing, but I guess everything needs to be dumbed down these days

Also, The Big Short should have been a documentary
>>
>>71962987
This, my fampais. Ryan Gosling explicitly states that the banker jargon is all bullshit legalese type crap to make regular joes think only bankers can do what they do. These scenes were cutting through the bullshit and laying it out in clear terms, as sort of "fuck all this misdirection, here's what's actually happening" moments.

It's not that, it's more of what >>71963072 said. It's to show that everything bankers tell us is way too complicated and they need to handle, is in fact not that complicated at all when you explain it correctly. To show that you don't need to be smart to control money, and in fact a lot of the ones that do, aren't.

Its funny because you are so insecure that if you even feel like anyone may indirectly be insulting your intelligence it makes you disinterested. The tone was very clear "big words" are intentionally and needlessly complicated (note, this isnt an opinion but a statement of how the jargon is vs how it could be) just to disempower the consumer.

Imagine you are standing in a crowd of 50 people, most of which are physically weaker than you. Someone points at a golden dollar underneath a piano and says "look everyone, theyve put the dollar under the piano just so you think you need big strong men to get it", and, although you can lift the piano, can you not fucking comprehend the point of the statement anyway?

I too, just watched this yesterday via netflix and i thought the movie did a very nice job if balancing the explanations. This subject matter isnt easy, not because it requires great intellect to comprehend, but because its filled with abstract concepts that are incredibly dry and the details are irrelevant to most people.

You have your intelligence insulted daily by tv commercials, the internet and most ads in general. This movie was insulting how the subject matter was designed.

Seriously, just think about it.

We aren't supposed to understand how the system works, that's the point. I guess it can make you feel stupid, but it wasn't meant to insult your intelligence. If your average movie goer could explain that shit like some blonde bimbo, the crash probably wouldn't have happened.

Normies love to think that every chaotic concept can be explained with 'git 'er done' approach. That everything boils down to coherent data and that upboat / crimethink ratio is just. Martian is that way too - follow the yellow brick road and you will get your own soap bubbles in the end. Heck, you might get chosen for an oldschoolcool photo or two.

most of the shit he was doing isnt even that complex, it was mostly just standard pump and dump shit and selling people shit stocks that went nowhere.

the shit with the IPO might've been a little harder to explain, but still he already said what a rathole was. he owned stock secretly, pushed the price up and sold.
>>
>>71965652

Honestly, very few people actually want to read about what happen in 08. The closest thing to a proper explanation in the form of a movie is Inside Job, but you really can't expect to understand the situation in a little less than 2 hours.
The most popular form of communication (movies, music, social media internet), to paraphase Neil Postman, "excludes the content."
