"Bridesmaids" being good has more to do with Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolos writing than anytthing else, "Spy" on the other hand is thoroughly mediocre and is only really funny when Statham is onscreen. Anchorman gets away with it because of how fucking surreal most of it is; the emotional shit in it is not even remotely played straight, most characters act like rockstars despite being in the news, etc etc. So when there's the occasional stilted scene (most of the improve is kept to single lines) it almost works in it's favor since everything else is crazy.
