Swords do make that sound though when unsheathed. It's just emphasized on film and tv.

That last one is a dress sword, specifically made so you can hear the sound when drawn while on parade. Like in movie, it is intended to be for dramatic effect.

But those kind of sheaths were made too. It's what Hollywood gets the sound from. It's wrong when they use it in films set in the 10th century or ninja movies though.
