the soundtrack is fantastic
>>
Doesn't Robert Zemeckis have it in his contract that they can't remake it as long as he's alive?

That's pretty based desu.
>>
don't count on it

I never thought ghostbusters would be raped either but here we are

Hell I even thought Star Wars was safe after the shitty prequels were over.
>>
Yeah, I just rewatched them on Netflix as well.

I'm honestly surprised that nobody did a 30 year reboot where a contemporary kid goes back to 1985. They're making reboots and unnecessary sequels to everything and this one was just glaringly obvious.
>>

>>

Star Wars wasn't raped by VII.

If anything VII saved the franchise.
>>
>>71848087

The franchise was already dead and VII was utterly forgettable, just like everything JJ puts his hands on.

JJ saved Star Trek and Mission Impossible.

kek even VI was a disappointment.

imo anything without Gary Kurtz isn't even Star Wars it's just fan fiction.

The situation couldn't be any different. Zemeckis and Gale have both said that while they are still alive BttF will be left untouched, whereas Dan Aykroid spent decades begging and grovelling to get a new movie done, and he happily got cucked when the remake was offered.

do you really thing they will ever remake a movie with a mom trying to seduce his son? or even change sex to be a girl seduce by her father? this is why i can sleep well tonight

You're like the people in Bond threads who post screanshots of RT not only as your only argument that Daniel Craig was actually James Bond, but that he made the best Bond films and "saved the franchise" - it's like living in upsidedown land.

why do millennials put so much stock in a website that does little more than compile opinions from the internet?

Also JJ had creative control not Kasdan.

At most Kasdan got to advise JJ while he recycled everything from IV/V and added snarky Marvel dialogue

Kurtz/Brackett/Kershner>Kasdan

This is false because MI3, Star Trek 09, Super 8, Into Darkness, and VII are all fantastic blockbusters with widespread critical and audience acclaim.

i never noticed how weirdly close together they're standing in this
>>
>>71848686
they're all as generic as they are forgettable

the original Star Wars movies rested on their writing, visuals, and actors for success

JJ gets his success sully from sequels and remakes combined with more CGI.

The one movie he made that was remotely original (super 8) which was sort of like ET combined with his passion for film making as a kid has been completely forgotten.

His characters are always shallow, his plots are always a mess, and his writing is somehow gets more juvenile and snarky with every movie.

How anyone can defend his writing or plots is beyond me.
>>
>>71848876
And it's completely forgotten today while the original Star Wars still holds up.

Maybe JJ should have put more effort into the villain or the plot so they weren't completely nonsensical.
>>
>>71848914

All good points.

He gets "critical acclaim" (RT scores) because he just pumps out safe, cookie cutter movies based on an unoffensive, easy to digest formula.

Nobody is going to remember anything he did 20 years from now.
>>
>>71848914
>they're all as generic as they are forgettable

People still talk about ST reboots to this day, VII is talked about every single day here, MI3 kick started the MI franchise and gave us 2 more of some of the best action adventure movie ever made (MI4, MI5) (produced by JJ, I might add)

>the original Star Wars movies rested on their writing, visuals, and actors for success

So did TFA.

>JJ gets his success sully from sequels and remakes combined with more CGI.

His strengths are understanding why previous entries of a franchise work and why some don't and fixes the franchise. That's his thing. He understands the spirit of adventure movies perfectly.

>His characters are always shallow, his plots are always a mess, and his writing is somehow gets more juvenile and snarky with every movie.

MI3 had the best Villian of the entire Mission Impossible franchise and Finn and Kylo were fantastic characters. Han was also written perfectly in VII.

>How anyone can defend his writing or plots is beyond me.

Opinions.

I think JJ is vastly overrated but it's ridiculous when people say he'll be completely forgotten. He resurrected three major franchises so he'll always be remembered. Trekkies will always hate him and maybe people will eventually turn against Episode VII but his work will be discussed long after his death.

>ST reboots to this day

kek

>So did TFA.

TFA rested on being part of one of the most successful franchises in history

>His strengths are understanding why previous entries of a franchise work

It's the exact opposite

JJ's strength rests on turning established franchises into bland action movies. He's basically Michael Bay, yet it's not acceptable to hate him.

>MI3 had the best Villian of the entire Mission Impossible franchise

nothing about MI3 was anything besides generic

>Finn and Kylo were fantastic characters

they were "fantastic" in that they were rehashes of older characters with enough of a "twist" to feel modern.
>>
>>71849309

Mission Impossible 3 is significantly better than MI2. Anyway, it doesn't matter his movies are generic or not. He'll be remembered for a very long time and if you think otherwise you're delusional.

this is so blatantly wrong it's funny.

Bay has no idea how to edit his mess of a movie, JJ's pacing is fantastic. TFA was even nominated for a best achievement in editing Oscar.

It's really not that weird. I know you get all your opinions from what cracked articles and jokes comedians make, but if you think back to the future is controversial, you are deluded.

You see, when people make jokes, they tend to exaggerate things for the sake of humour. That's why it's a bad idea to get news from comedians such as Seth Meyers as well.
