I think its mostly because GB2 is less about the characters and more about the plot where the original was more the other way and that was its strength.

I attended the premier last night and I was holding onto some shred of hope that this movie was going to be at least OK.
It's not. I'm really sorry to say that among a crowd of nothing but hardcore Ghostbusters fans at least 80% of the jokes flopped. Kate's character is overly weird and quirky (some may like that though) and overall it was obvious they had to do reshoots and cut it together with mixed results.
For example, the dance number we've all heard about is set up in the film, but never executed because they cut it.. So you're there watching people in a frozen dance position waiting for it to happen but, well, it doesn't (thankfully because it's awful).
There was only one part that truly pissed me off and that's is Bob from Bob's Prop Shop being front and center during the concert scene. He wasn't at the premier, you know why? Because he knows he's not welcome among the GB community. That guy recasts and steals from others in the community (in addition to being a total douche bag to people who confront him regarding their work being recasted by him) and to feature him in the new movie is a slap to the face, in my opinion. Ugh.

Actually he probably would have supported it. After Aykroyd he was the next biggest part of the original films that wanted to make a third. The only one who was strong-armed into promoting this is Bill Murray who's been against making another Ghostbusters film since II. What I love about this it's that it only works on EEUU, not in the rest of the world. In my country people only check the local papers and in the local papers there's one of my professors who really can't stand these flicks.
