It was shallow and formulaic and lacked the thoughtfulness of any pre-2010 Pixar movie besides Cars plus a couple of modern Pixar movies. All drama was forced and served no thematic purpose; It only pushed the plot forward.
Zootopia was the same but it had a fuckable rabbit and social commentary so it's passable.

I disagree, I feel it has the same amount of effort and thoughtfulness as something like Inside Out or Tangled does. Disney just made a entertaining and fun kids movie that was also entertaining for adults. Sure, it's nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary, but does it every Disney movie really have to be?
I didn't think the drama felt forced at all, it was just the natural lession of the movie, which was that friends can help you through almost any situation in life. Sure others movies have done it better, but this movie did its job just fine.
Not trying to be rude, but these criticisms are rather generic and can be said about any movie.

I need more of this. I need more of these movies in my life. I loved this film. I loved how sweet the interplay between them was. I loved how Disney actually committed recently to fucking love interesting getting together. This film was very well put together, and I was extremely surprised by how close they came to falling apart at the hinges during production. Changing the entire film 8 months before it came, hiring three directors, etc.
