Not worth it, except for being able to talk about a famous show and being in the know.
It was one of the shows that pushed the golden age of tv shows, but Jesus H. Christ dit it go off the rails after the third season. Arguably, the third season already started the decline. Interesting things happen in the later series, but overall it left a bad tast in my mouth. So little get's resolved. The whole 'it's the journey that matters' argument seems like desperate rationalization of bad writing to me. It builds like a scifi/mystical mystery and drops almost all of its balls. Sub-plots get abandoned, more questions and mysteries remain unsolved than are solved, those that are solved are almost all done in a weak or terrible way. Some characters are somewhat interesting, but it's not some intelligent character piece, the supposed plot is always central, and that completely falls apart. It ruins the first seasons as well.
I could advice you to only watch the first 2 or 3 seasons, like someone did to me, but than you'll end up watching it all anyway, like I did, in the hope to find closure. If rage is closure, you'll find closure.
