Oh, I understand it fine. I perfectly understand the need to defend the belief that defines your entire worldview, life philosophy and morality system. I understand the need to defend it by any means necessary, and if you're particularly stupid the best means available to your are "m-m-muh faith" and "y-y-you can't prove it's not true", and generally appealing to emotion rather than logic.
But most importantly, I understand the financial incentive in appealing to those idiots.
