Just finished the 6th season. It felt really bad and sloppy written - reviving people because we can (Hound, Benjen), all story lines were extremely rushed and last episode had some wtf moments in it - namely teleporting Varys and Arya.
I don't know. I have read the books and wasn't watching the show on purpose, but when the show got ahead of books, I had to start. I feel thoroughly disappointed. I know there is not enough time to let all arcs fully develop, but last season was just bare-bones with each arc getting few key scenes. No progression at all.

It's not tragic if your writers can't actually write it. Tragedy is something you feel, not something a character does.
Macbeth is only a tragedy because of Act 5, Scene 8. If Jaime never actually develops again, like he did once when the show at least tried to care, then he'll just be the plot device he is to clear the throne for House Plot Device and it's fire breathing Plot Devices.
Jaime was supposed to undergo major character development on the way to and during the Riverrun siege expedition. Instead we got teleported to Riverrun, meaningless dialogue between Brienne and Jaime, a dialogue that counteracts development between Jaime and Edmure, and no comfy snowball fight.
Oh and then we (Jaime) get teleported to King's Landing conveniently during the coronation so we can end the season on an intense staring scene.Nailed it
