A few years back there were always threads about Korean films but they've seemed to drop off lately.
Can we get a Korean thread going? Has anyone seen The Wailing? I'm thinking of watching it tonight.
Oldboy being literally the only decent Korean film.
Fuck off, weebs.
I Saw The Devil was pretty sweet, solid 7/10
The Chaser still makes me mad/sad.

Castaway on the moon is pretty decent
>>71697530
What the fuck are you talking about? The whole Vengeance Trilogy is top tier.

Unwatchable shit. Get some taste.

The Chaser left a huge impact on me
>>71697530
the funny thing is Old Boy is an adaptation to the manga.

In other words I can't handle gore or a pure psychopath as the antagonist.

>but they've seemed to drop off lately.
just like good new korean films.
like seriously
Was introduced to Korean film with Oldboy, which is still my favorite. Some others that I liked are
Memories of Murder
The Host
I Saw the Devil
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance(don't bother with the 3rd one its shit)

Ahhh releif. Comparing this to the Western remake is a great exercise in film critique.

This.
The reason threads have died down is because we always talk about the same movies.

>3rd one is shit
FUCK off faggot

The Yellow Sea is a blast. I highly recommend it.

In other words Oldboy is essential angsty teen stuff. I Saw the Devil is 3 hours of the same thing happening over and over to the point it becomes boring. They are not good films.
Memories of Murder is the best of the new wave Korean stuff by far.
If you want a legit good Asian thriller, try Cure (1997)

To add another one, if you don't mind it's from Hong Kong. Fulltime Killer is fun to watch. I would describe it as a light action flick.

should be a Sundays afternoon /tv/ essential.
>>71697519
Oldboy and Castaway in the Moon are great but you can't expect support on /tv/ no matter what your thread is about because its full of contrarians hipster dickclowns
>>71697530
>>71697726
Do you ever watch anything of your own volition, or just follow internet memes from /tv/.
>>71698282
i said new, faggot
>>71699648
I wasn't implying they were new (although 3 are).
Stop waiting for imdb to tell you what's good.
