Pacific Rim's character development is shallow as fuck. The only person with vaguely interesting characteristics is Charlie Day and he was just being Charlie Day. Everyone else just has a cool name.

Cause the first one was pretty much shit except for about 15 minutes of the fight scenes. The whole 2 pilots thing was fucking stupid. The main characters were all bland as fuck with no on-screen chemistry. Idris Elba was good but since he's dead now they can't bring him back.
The only character they need to bring back is Perlman's.
