Summary of things going on:
We have many mentions of a mysterious oily black stone: The Greyjoy Seastone Chair; the ancient mazelike foundations of the Hightower; the Toad Stone in the Isle of Toads; the cursed city, Yeen; Asshai-by-the-Shadow, the source of a lot of creepy things; and possibly the black meteorite worshipped by the Bloodstone Emperor of Yi Ti, and the Five Forts of the same realm.
Of these, the Seastone, the Hightower maze, Asshai and Yeen are explicitly said to be immemorial, of unknown origin, predating known human history.
In another echo of Lovecraftian horror, the people of the Isle of Toads are said to be fishlike in appearance, with webbed fingers.
Also webbed are members of House Borell of Crackclaw Point, who call it "The Mark"; this may be related to folkloric sea creatures called "squishers".
The source of black stone items and fishy people has been theorized by mæsters to be an ancient race of half-humans, the Deep Ones – hybrids created by unknown sea monsters.
Storm's End seems to be strangely built for protection against the sea, where no humans could possibly attack; its walls are thicker seawards, and without windows in that direction. Melisandre says the walls are woven with protection spells.
Weird things are going on in Hightower and the Citadel, such as:
>the glass candles
>We've been introduced to a wizard-type character, Marwyn, who seems likely to appear more in TWOW
>A Faceless Man, possibly went rogue, has infiltrated the Citadel with a skeleton key, seemingly after the well-guarded forbidden book, Blood and Fire or the Death of Dragons.
>The Hightowers Lord Leyton and Malora the Mad Maid have locked themselves in the Tower, researching spells intensely.
>"Might be", a captain tells Sam, "he'll raise an army from the deeps"
>>71609628
Because his story arc for the last two seasons was dogshit. Now that he'll be in more of an active political role and attached to Dany there will probably be more for him to do. Like getting her to fuck her nephew.
>>71609529
He's probably not going to appear on the show again. I mean Meera is still alive, and presumably next season Bran will be re-united with Jon or whatever, but I just can't see them introducing another new character in a 7 episode season.

Euron Greyjoy, the voodoo viking pirate king, who is clearly involved with the occult and might be a Bloodraven ex-disciple, is interested in taking Oldtown, and is heading for it.
So is Sam, who likely has the Horn of Joramund.
Moqorro has seen Euron in a vision, as "a tall and twisted thing with one black eye and ten long arms, sailing on a sea of blood." He's the greatest danger in his visions.
Devout Drowned God priest Aeron Damphair, thoroughly defeated by his childhood abuser, the blasphemer Euron, is desperate enough to try to do... something. He's a confirmed TWOW POV character. The Drowned God seems very likely to be related to whatever it is that created the Deep Ones hybrids.
Unbeknownst to all, Patchface has made successful prophecies, which means that his drowning made him a mad sea prophet – something like a Drowned God avatar.
Melisandre has presaged that he's dangerous. Melisandre's visions about towers and sea (why "towers" plural, though? Pyke?)
>• […] the towers by the sea, crumbling as the dark tide came sweeping over them, rising from the depths.
>• If it comes, that attack will be no more than a diversion. I saw towers by the sea, submerged beneath a black and bloody tide. That is where the heaviest blow will fall.
And Jaime's dream about the watery depths:
>• Below the earth his doom awaited, he knew with the certainty of dream; something dark and terrible lurked there, something that wanted him. Beware the water, he told himself. There may be creatures living in it, hidden deeps...
>• “Tell me, Jaime. What lives here? What lives in the darkness?” “Doom.” No bear, he knew. No lion. “Only doom.”

>>71609950
Well, essentially, ASOIAF isn't just about Ice and Fire.
Jojen and Meera's elemental oath to Bran Stark goes like this:
>"I swear it by earth and water." — Jojen
>"I swear it by bronze and iron." — Meera
>"We swear it by ice and fire." — Both
Ice and fire, relates to the story of dragons, R'hllor, Bloodraven, Bran, Jon, and the Others. But it also relates to Robert Frost's poem, ice and fire, which is an anti-war poem. That will be the final piece of the series, a commentary on the tragedy of war and a hope for peace. This all takes place, I would imagine, in the Northern storyline.
The Southern storyline, is about something different. Oldtown is where a lot of the southern storylines seem to be spilling into, and the south is about political intrigue and magic and eldritch horror all converging. Oldtown is so full of Chekhov's Magical Guns, that it's going to bubble up and spill over with what happens.
Oldtown might even become the Second Doom, since Euron is such a Valyriaboo. It's going to be mad what happens there. Essentially, it just makes the world of ASOIAF more exciting, more of a loud symphony. This is the penultimate part of the saga. I believe this refers to the "earth and water" part of the oath.
What's "bronze and iron"? Probably the Dance of Dragons, which involves Aegon, Dorne, Daenerys, the Tyrells, and the Lannisters. Which is about history and war.

He wants to fuck an Other like the Night's King did.
I know Sophie from a mutual friend who went to school with her when his family lived in England. They're really close so I've met her like a dozen times. I've gathered a few things from this.
1. She's taller than all of you say
2. She is always in heels and really into her height
I'm 5-6 so I knew she would be taller than me, but I didn't expect her to need to bend over and put her ear by my head when I spoke, that's for sure. She is taller than my girlfriend who is 5-9, although she was in huge heels and my girlfriend was barefoot when I saw them together. Still, Sophie made me not want to get up and meet her after she commented on how her heels made her feel big with smaller girls to a 5-9 girls. But in her defense they were like 5 inch heels on a probably 6-0 girl.
I did however get up and received from laughter from my girlfriend and Sophie and my friend who is her friend. She was like a foot taller than me in those heels and kept commenting on it all day and then the next day when we went to a restaurant she made me compare heights with her so the waiter could see. She is really really into being tall for some reason.

The point of ASOIAF is that it's meant to start with hardly any magic, and then bubble with more magic and then boil over the top with magic by the end.
We've only ever seen magic used by good, benevolent or well-intentioned characters so far (Bran, Daenerys, arguably Melisandre), Euron will be the first villainous character to utillise a fuckload of magic and he'll try to hijack the story into making himself it's villain.

>>71610430
Yeah. I'm not sure there's even time for this shit if there's only 13 episodes left. It also seems a bit too high-fantasy for GRRM. Not that I don't expect more high fantasy at the end of the story, but that just sounds like a magical apocalypse consumes all plotlines.
I know that many people think the politics just serves as a distraction while "the real enemy" attacks, but I think the politics are really central to the story. I'd be really fucking disappointed if the endgame was just "heroes fight krakens and ice demons". Personally I'd really rather prefer the magical shit off before sorting out the political politics, but that's just me. I want my Battle of Bosworth Field and union of warring houses AFTER the White Walkers are defeated. I know it's unlikely though.
>>71610600
I don't know how he's going to do it in the show (wildfire?)
But Dany and Euron won't be battling until a long while into The Winds of Winter. By then, Oldtown will be totally Euron's city, it might even be covered in darkness and the seas will be blood red due to his sacrifices. He very likely could summon the Deep Ones as his army or a kraken.
I mean, in The Winds of Winter his first challenge is the Redwyne Fleet heading his way. And even though the Redwynes have a larger fleet with stronger ships, it's almost guaranteed Euron is going to use magic. The Redwynes are fucked.

Why do people like Jon?
>Euron and Dany are so fucking crazy that they'll probably end up burning the library of Oldtown to the ground
this is the Library of Alexandria all over again
all that knowledge... lost forever
>>71610871
how else is it theorized that the wall will fall?
Assuming Deus ex Markina is a d&d invention
>>71610871
>on any of the stories from the Age of Heroes
You heard it here first folks, the Others don't actually exist! Because they're a story from the Age of Heroes, and that quote totally means everything about the stories is 100% made up.
>>71610887
he has a small pecker like me
>>71610746
>I don't think the magic has really increased that much.
Plot-wise "magic" is irrelevant at the start of the series. Although we know the White Walkers and their zombies exist because of the first prologue, no-one else does - the Night's Watch is only concerned that Mance Rayder is uniting the Wildlings to overrun The Wall
And from then on "magic" makes greater and greater appearances (dragons, House of the Undying, shadow assassins, resurrecting Dondarrion etc)
>>71610868
>if this is the case though why has the show been writing him as just another buffoon sure to get killed by dany smugfacing him and shouting dracarys
I don't think D&D have read A Feast for Crows in ages, so they probably forgot all about Euron's foreshadowing.
Now that they've probably read The Winds of Winter chapter involving him, I can see D&D doing a total 180 on his character realising he's a lot more important than they thought he was.
I think we all know there's only one suitor who could satisfy the dragon queen.
>>71610930
so did he give brienne a tumble in the bumble?
>>71610887
idk i've never really cared much for jon in either the show or the books
he's always been one of the dullest characters there is and i feel like sometimes i force myself into thinking i like him when i really don't, i just like his storyline not the actual character
>>71610854
Just what?
>>71610950
Absolutely, though his knightly code restricts him from speaking of it.
A true man.
>>71610887
I find him really boring and predictable in a world of a lot of interesting characters whos stories are much more open to speculation and theorizing
jon is just... there, kind of. we all know where his story is going and its really cliche and boring.

I just wanted a (You), and knew that attention whore that you are, I could make you dance like a puppet; I knew replying to you would get me that (You).
Now, will I get a second (You)? Which will win, puppet, your narcissism, or sense?
And you forget that Rhaegar got absolutely hammered when he tried to go shot-for-shot with Bobby B.

so that's why they didn't teleport into the battle
>>71610918
The house of the undying was just allucinations and the faceless men aren't very magical.
Resurrection is the only thing that can only be explained.
>>71610868
because they know how the books will end
Euron will probably get BTFO one way or the other so they might as well write him as a total retard to win feminist points from the normies
This thread made me interested in the Euron and oldtown stuff for the first time ever thank you family

You heard it here first folks, Garth Greenhand existed. Let's all pray for Garth to come fuck our wives so we can raise our wives' sons and daughters.
Pray with me.
And maybe, just maybe, if we're really good, we can hook up with some of the sea and ocean gods' daughters and get some ice spiders to ride.
>>71610868
>access to the weirnet
>>71610524
>Euron has access to the weirnet then?
I'm not sure. As far as I know, Euron was only visited by Bloodraven in his dreams as a child, similar to Bran in Book 1-3. Euron never ventured Beyond the Wall.
So I think he can't see things as well as Bran can, but he knows of the powers to enter people's dreams. He's learned how to do this slightly, since he can enter the visions of Moqorro, and he can enter the dreams of Daenerys and Aeron.
But what I think what Euron really wants more than anything, are the Glass Candles. The Palantir of ASOIAF, they give superior foresight into far distances, and communication to people far away, telepathically. I think he either wants to contact Bloodraven, or the Others themselves.
>>71611036
Then whats the point of including him at all now that they've taken out the dragonbinder stuff and he probably wont have anything to do with the wall collapse
reeeee i am still so confused
>>71608621
>yfw cercie reinstates trial by combat
>>71610819
Sam has the Horn of Joramun
hopefully based Qyburn is made archmaester by Euron
>>71611021
>Faceless Men changing faces with a gesture
>not very magical
???
Also
>shadow babies
>warging
>greensight
I mean it's not Dungeons and Dragons-tier "Sam learns to throw fireballs from Marwyn", but I'd say it's still getting increasing "magical"
Euron may well have all sorts of crazy magic shit like controlling storms and summoning a kraken, but that stops there. I do not buy into the idea of him being allied with the white walkers or contacting the Three Eyed Raven. That shit is dumb. Euron isn't omniscient and omnipotent, and that's how these theories make him sound.
>>71611044
It's shaping up to be one of TWoW's most interesting arcs desu
The faceless man in Oldtown was probably sent there by him
>>71611090
First of all, IDIOT, I'm not saying every story is true. YOU on the other hand, directly JUST said all the stories are false, when in fact we KNOW that is wrong.
Second, if you don't think ice spiders are showing up there's no point in continuing this conversation. But you're already such a fucking idiot you apparently think Sam has a mysterious horn for no reason so I don't know why I bothered so far.
>>71611157
I would just like to believe he has something to do with the 3ER because otherwise this kraken nonsense and even Euron himself seems incredibly extraneous and random...
>>71611189
>TWoW
>ever being released
>>71611215
>>71611157
>being allied with the white walkers
He isn't allied, but he wants an alliance. He knows they exist because of this dream training by Bloodraven.
>or contacting the Three Eyed Raven
Euron is legit doing this. There are so many hints that Bloodraven and Euron are associated with each other. Crow symbolism, Eye symbolism, interest in the arcane,
and this nifty quote:
>“When I was a boy, I dreamt that I could fly,” he announced. “When I woke, I couldn’t…or so the maester said. But what if he lied?”
>>71611215
it will probably be released before season 7
>The Queen of Thorns
>The Lady of Winterfell
>The Mother of Dragons
>The Ironborn Queen
>The Snakes of Dorne
Are these the major contenders of the next season?
Is there a skip button?
>>71611215
twow will make it to stores eventually
it's ados I'm worried about
>>71611203

>Glass Candles
sorry for my showfaggotry, but every time I've hear people talk about Glass Candles it sounded more like a meme theory. is it a legit thing or what
>>71611215
I hope Podrick survives 2bh
>>71611190
Wow, one aspect from the stories is true, must mean the Horn is too even though the stories of it just have it waking giants and say that Joramun blew it once already after the Wall was built.
And a horn that Sam found buried somewhere the Night's Watch have probably been going to for thousands of years must definitely be that horn, not a red herring or anything.
>actually believing in ice spiders
