Holy shit even the first 10 min of it was better than the whole Rear Window! Needless to say the whole film is by far Hitchcock's best.
Action for days!
Rear Window > Rope > Vertigo > North By Northwest
Why don't mainstream films include smoking anymore? The only examples I can think of are Wes Anderson and Sofia Coppola.

really? i think i would put rear window below all of those. i don't get the appeal.
>better than Psycho
Objectively false.

I honestly just think it boils down to personal preference. Hitchcock made a ton of great movies. I love Jimmy Stewart, and Rear Window has always been my favorite. I just feel like the atmosphere is amazing, and even after seeing it like 10 times I think it does a decent job of building suspense.

Psycho is great, but I think it'd be tough to argue that Psycho is better than North by Northwest, Vertigo, or Rear Window.

people don't smoke as much as they did
>>71599430
A lot of people still smoke and chew tobacco. A lot.
>>71599476
not as much as they used to.
>>71599513
A lot.

Your point being?

Fucking fool, how can he not have any concept of what heads of production companies do to a show? What an insufferable fuck.

Who?
>ctrl+f 'Notorious'
>zero results
Why is it so underrated bros?
>>71600109
Because he's done mostly surreal, art-type films, so he's obviously been funded by people who get and support what he does. And you're underestimating just how bizarre studio notes can get.

It's amongst my top 1-4 favorite Hitches for sure along w/ North by, 39 Steps, Vertigo, Rebecca maybe
Why don't people ever talk about Rebecca or Strangers on a Train. I found these to be great!
i love this font/title card
>>71600496
because film since ~1980 has been entirely plot driven and Notorious is Hitchcock's least plot focused film
my favorite hitchcock is Stranger's on a Train however (great villain, great dialogue, great power dynamics, nice examination of fame/celebrity)

Rear Window is a timeless classic as a thriller. Incredible tension, gorgeous set, A list cast, simplicity of the plot, the genius of Stewart being a hero who is locked into his apartment who needs Grace Kelly to be his proxy for the whole movie and can barely defend himself at the end when the jig is up, it's a perfect storm of elements that makes it one of Hitchcock's best films ever.

Leach was doped up the entire film
