No grit in that scene whatsoever. The parents look like they gently fell on the ground to take a nap in front of their son with the bad haircut. Felt incredibly forced at trying to do an "emotional" moment, even though we've seen Batman's parents get shot twenty times in other movies.

Thought it was good.

What the fuck do people want? Could it have used a bit more humor.. sure, but I want DC to do the gritty dark stuff and Marvel to do the fun campy stuff.

Can't we all just get along?

I would put it below Iron Man 1 and GotG. Better than Ultron I think.

Ok I am not a comic book guy so half the time I don't know if someone is DC or Marvel (or sony or whatever the fuck entity owns them) so maybe that is why I don't get the hate.

I watched the Ultimate edition I think (they said fuck a couple times) so maybe that is why I thought it was good.

I like Marvel too and am excited and hopeful for DC. I just hope this didn't scare them off from making it a bit more serious.

Reminds me of Apple vs Android stuff. They are fucking different why even compare them.
>>
>>71592255
Allow me to rephrase.

Why does every scene only consist of shades of one color?
>>
>>71592193
The whole movie is about "heroes and villians" (really metahumans) with parental abandonment issues. You HAVE to open with that scene for batman.

Batman's entire world view was formed by him trying to rationalize this moment

Lex's was formed by him trying to rationalize his father's attitude toward him

Superman's was formed by him trying to rationalize his adoptive's father attitude toward him

I'm 100% convinced anyone who didn't like this film just missed the point of everything and wanted Quips vs Capes: 3D instead.

It almost feels like an extension of/aside to Watchmen
>>
>>71590390
I watched it for the first time last night.
It certainly wasn't as bad as I was expecting but it was pretty average.

Some things made no sense, like the dream sequences, was that vision or just a dream? Was someone from the future contacting Bruce through his dreams? If so how come he does NOTHING about it. The guy screams that Lois 'is the key' and he does nothing with that information.

The film goes to shit once Superman and Batman actually start fighting.
How they end up stopping was stupid and Doomsday should have been a totally different movie.
oddly enough, Lex Luther's casting actually went down well with me, I was pleasantly surprised.

All in all, I rate it 5/10, I didn't get this ending, I'm guessing it means he is alive? I would guess so but don't get the significance of the whole floating dirt thing.

I will agree a bit with this. I think they needed a villain at the end for them to fight all together though. 6/10 from me.

Better than Iron Man 2/3, Ultron, and those Hulk movies. Really DCs first attempt and though the didn't nail it like Iron Man 1, they setup their universe well.

DC just needs someone with a bit of charisma like RDjr to get cast.

Simply put, you have a low cinematic IQ, or some sort of Stockholm Syndrome, from overexposure to bland, safe, PC and soulless mass-produced blockbusters, which has conditioned you into accepting the absolute lowest common denominator standards in filmmaking, writing and cinematography as somehow acceptable, when you should in fact feel nothing but contempt or disgust for any Kevin Feige-conceived product.

Even strictly in the field of capeshit entertainment, where the bar has always been pretty low, since they're primarly a children media, the level of genuine quality and creative abilities (which comes from studios giving freedom to an auteur with a strong personality and vision towards the material) has kept dropping since the 90's.

When Raimi's Darkman/Spider-Man, Del Toro's Blade 2/Hellboy, Burton's Batman 2 or Bird's The Incredibles offered innovative and playful set pieces, meaningful and relevant themes, each with a very distinct, appropriate tone and truly cinematic aesthetics (simply compare the lighting or editing to today's equivalents), none of these qualities are to be found in Avengers or any of the previous MCU entries. This is why Edgar Wright got fired from Ant-Man. This is why Feige keeps hiring visionless point-and-shoot directors who come from TV or comedy, colorblind cinematographers and art/set design teams who seem to be in love with grey, sterile hangars for some unexplainable reason. Action scenes are now being conceived by CGI teams months before the movie begins shooting and all follow the exact same formula.

Even as a child, I couldn't imagine being dazzled or amused by those turds, as they're utterly devoid of any charm, colors, magic or imagination.
>>
Cinematography is great for a cape movie, much better than any marvel movie and I say that as someone who like marvel

>>71592612
It's not actually 2deep4u. The movie backs its own idea up with almost every bit of exposition.

Batman literally said it
>They taught me the world only makes sense...if you force it to
in reference to them being "dying in the gutter for no reason at all"

Lex literally says it
>No man in the sky came intervened when I was a boy to deliver me from daddy's fist and abominations....if god is all good than he can not be all powerful. And neither can you be.

Superman literally says it
>Why did Dad never leave Kansas
>I've been living my life the way my father saw it. Righting wrongs for a ghost.

I never saw the theatrical cut because of the backlash, but I pirated the UE, then bought it because I liked it so much. I get why you wouldn't like it if you wanted a popcorn flick. It doesn't function as one. It's a Superhero Drama and I fucking loved it.

I suspect quite strongly that color is going to be used to represent "magick" in the DCEU. Through his sacrifice and resurrection, Superman will usher in a "Heroic Age" that elevates a drab, mundane, "realistic" world into one that has room for larger-than-life heroes, gods, and yes, monsters.

He has heeded his father and chosen his world. He has heeded Bruce and forced the world to make sense. He's forced it to make room once more for champions.

I suspect we'll first really start seeing a larger, more lively color palette in The Suicide Squad, and that if I'm right, we'll see it even more fully developed in Wonder Woman, contrasting a drab, grey, war-torn 20th Century with a more vibrant, magical past.

Open your eyes. Look up to the skies and see.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present the pleb.

>Some things made no sense, like the dream sequences
They were visions of a future. Bruce didn't have this context so he interpreted them as nightmares.

>If so how come he does NOTHING about it.
Each time he has one it pushes his paranoia and need to kill Superman.

>The guy screams that Lois 'is the key' and he does nothing with that information.
He says a lot more than that. He sees Bruce's reaction and says "she's the key, find her soon" This line has no context to Bruce at this point. then something glitches with The Flash? and he says "I'm too soon, you we're always right about him...find us too, you have to find us"

>How they end up stopping was stupid and Doomsday should have been a totally different movie.
What didn't you like? While Batman was doing his thing Superman was doing his thing, they all met in the middle and took out Doomsday which Lex had already created at that point.

>Lex Luther's casting actually went down well with me
Agreed

The original death of Superman according to the writers of that comic line was supposed to show world without one of its greatest heroes, backlash against 90s gritty grimdark comics´, to get rid the world of its big hero.

The intent and effect of Superman dying in BvS is complete opposite. It both shows sympathy Superman had for Earth, and sympathy earth's people have (now) towards Superman while also inspiring Bruce and Diane to find other metahumans. It is not done out of pettiness (by writers), it is done to show the 'greatness' of these superheroes (the monument scene)

It's no fucking stretch.

>What's the oldest lie on /tv/, Anon?
That CIA behaving awkwardly wasn't intentional.
The entire point of the movie is to show that the Memes belongs to no one and everyone at the same time. This is the historical baggage that Nolan is aware these characters carry: An endless barrage of neets and meme lore since the 90's, comparison to other iconic memes, and everyone thinking they have the last word on how these meme should be used.
Bane is Moby Dick, Zarathrusta, Ernest Defarge, Zorro, Crossbones, The Mask, the Classic Big Guy/Masked man/Villain.
CIA is Ahab, Captain America, Howard Hughes, Charles Foster Kane, William Wilson, Javert, Paul the Apostle, the tortured lawful man seeking to catch his prize.
Barsad is a Deadshot, a mosquito, Jason Bourne, Bob Lee Swagger, Artemis, the one that hits the spot..
The plane is a NASA shuttle, a nest, Snake's on a Plane aircraft, Ahab's Pequod, Zorro's Tornado, Quixote's Rozinante.
There are many comparisons with TDK too. For instance, the opening scene culminates in Bane leaving one of his hired guns in the wreckage, while in TDK the Joker kills his hired guns. The Gotham football team's uniform is the same color in both films. Both opening scenes are to show how menacing and thinkful the villains are.
It's a deconstruction and analysis of the characters themselves.

The main theme of Snyder's "Batman v Superman" on spiritual dematerialism is not eschatological, but a phenomenological ontology. Thus he implies that we have to choose between predialectic construction and deconstructivist neodialectic theory, essentially Heideggerian as seen in the concept of Dasein. The subject is interpolated then into a cinematic dematerialism that includes spirituality as a whole. But if the Kierkegaardian worldview holds, we have to choose between the cultural paradigm of expression and atomism. In Snyder's own "Man of Steel" he has a character says that "the world's too big”. Inherent in this is how the function of Lebenswelt (cinematically translated by Snyder as "world of life") operates in all his films, chiefly in "Sucker Punch" and "300". We see a phenomenological approach to the world showing a cinematic logic that presupposes a strucutral constraint in rootedness, another intentionality central to his filmography and philosophy. Because "metaphysical comfort" is not an object of temporality per se, but rather an aspect of automatic condition, as suggested by Cavell. Hermeneutic interpretations are also apparent in his post-"Watchmen" movies; in fact the interchangeable subjectivities are but another representation of Husserl's and Wittgenstein's "form of life". As his academic hero Heidegger succintly noted, "freedom is the ‘abyss’ of Dasein, its groundless or absent ground". This is essentially the thesis operating in Snyder's films.

“Art is intrinsically meaningless,” says Ben Affleck. The primary theme of BvS' analysis of Sontagist camp is a mythopoetical totality. The characteristic theme of the works of Snyder is the common ground between society and language. But the premise of dialectic superheroism holds that the establishment is capable of social comment. The subject is interpolated into a social realism that includes narrativity as a whole.

“Society is unattainable,” says Kal-El. It could be said that Luthor uses the term ‘neomaterial desituationism’ to denote not sublimation, but presublimation. If social realism holds, the works of Snyder are an example
of purposeful superhero movies, also known as "capekino."

In a sense, Marveldrones promote the use of postdeconstructive objectivism to attack capekino. The subject is contextualised into a neomaterial desituationism that includes reality as a reality.

But dialectic superheroism suggests that culture serves to entrench outmoded, elitist perceptions of capeshit. Terrio uses the term ‘neomaterial desituationism’ to denote a self-supporting totality.

What I'm saying is that the idea of Bruce with kryptonite is the kernel around which the rest of the plot grew. Whether he had to steal it or not, there was absolutely no way that Bruce would forego having access to such a "magic bullet," even if it was a purely precautionary measure.

We've known for quite some time, and what they're doing is pretty cool and makes sense. Looks like someone else is damage controlling.
Justice League was always meant to have a lighter tone. Chris Terrio explains it.
>At that moment, I thought, “I’m not done with this yet. I want to go back and keep telling the story.” “Batman v Superman” is a bit of an “Empire Strikes Back” or “Two Towers” or any similar middle film in a trilogy. The middle film tends to be the darkest one. I do think from “Man of Steel” through “Justice League,” it is one saga really.

>I expect “Justice League” will be tonally not quite as dark as “Batman v Superman.” From that point of view, I felt compelled to go back and try to lift us and myself into a different tonal place because I think when you write a darker film, sometimes you want to redeem it all a bit.

>The scene follows Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, entering an abandoned brick building with lots of colorful graffiti which he has co-opted for his home. He turns on the power and his apartment lights up with tons of computer monitors all over the place. The light reveals Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne sitting in a chair.

>“Barry Allen, Bruce Wayne.”

>“You said that like it explains why there’s a total stranger in my place sitting in my second favorite chair,” quips Allen.

>“Tell me about this…” Wayne presents Allen a printout showing the security footage of Allen which was retrieved from Lex Luthor’s hard drive in Batman v Superman. Allen looks at the paper incredulously.

>“This is… uhh… a person who looks exactly like me but is definitely not me. Somebody, hippy, long hair. Very attractive Jewish boy… who drinks milk. I don’t drink milk.”

>Wayne is not amused. “I know you have abilities, I just don’t know what they are…”

>Allen quips, “My special skills include viola, web design, fluent in sign language, gorilla sign language…”

>Wayne has stopped listening and is admiring Allen’s prototype Flash costume which is in the middle of the room.

>Looking closer at the Flash suit, Wayne notices its made of “silicon base and quartz fabric, heat resistant.”

>Allen tries to explain what the superhero costume is for: “Yeah, I also do ice dancing.”

>“They use it on the space shuttle to keep it from burning up on reentry,” comments Wayne.

>Barry responds that the suit is for “very competitive ice dancing.” Barry turns and continues, “Look man, I don’t know who you are but whoever you’re looking for is not me.”

Almost instantly time slows down and we are engulfed into Barry Allen’s world of slow-motion as he dodges the incoming weapon and notices that it’s a metal throwing star in the form of the Batman logo. He reaches out and grabs it, catching it.

>We transition into real time as Barry looks at Bruce, “You’re the Batman?

>Bruce now understands, “So you’re fast?”

>Barry remarks, “That feels like an over simplification.”

>Bruce is not amused, so he gets to the point: “I’m putting together a team, people with special abilities. You see, I believe enemies are coming…”

>Allen interrupts him, “Stop right there, I’m in!”

>Wayne surprised, “Just like that?”

>“Yeah,” responds Allen, taking a few seconds to admit, “I need friends.”

>“Great,” says Wayne relieved.
