A lot of movies nowadays wouldn't present this scene so simply and elegantly. It's almost old school filmmaking, 1920s swashbuckling movies, 1950s westerns, where you see stuntmen do stuntwork and not CGI monstrosities. Another anon mentioned it, but these films seem more tactile and visceral because there wasn't 25 years of powercreep and trying to top the last.
It's excellent and at the top of the genre.

28 years old here. Terminator 2 had a massive presence in pop culture, from Arnold being everywhere, to even childrens toys and childrens shows from spoofing it for almost a 5 year period. It was just the right movie at the right time.
I don't pay too much attention to people fighting over what is better. Terminator or T2. They're completely different movies, both told by the grand master of action story telling.
Terminator was better edited and had a tighter script, but Terminator 2 does pretty much everything better. T2 and Predator are always going to be my favorite movies of all time, but neither of them have a scene so well cut and mixed like this:
