CASTING CALL FOR THE /who/ AUDIO PRODUCTION OF "Foreman"

1.01 'Nirvi'
The stirring introduction to the world of Foreman and the friendship of the Doctor & Nirvi that will live forever.
Read it here: http://doctorwhogeneral.wikia.com/wiki/Foreman#The_Leaked_Scripts

Character list:

>Nirvi Chandratreya, basically just imagine Claudia Boleyn
>The Doctor, basically just imagine Jazz Hands without the jazz hands
>Goggles, baddie scientist guy who is helping the Axons, wears goggles
>Alex Starling, Nirvi's mate and transgender non-companion
>Axons, beautiful gold people
>Axos, a huge fuckoff mass of orangey shit (appears in ep. 4)

Starting with Ep 1 seems like a sound plan so let's do that, if people want to do the rest we can.

Minor characters (multi-roling is encouraged where possible, the shittier the better)
Ep 1.
>Grace Butterworth, an 'oldish white woman' who gives lectures
>Dozy, a male student who behaves rudely in a lecture on Women's Suffrage
>Excited Girl & Excited Boy, random students Nirvi overhears talking about the new alien drug thing
>Chris, a 'well-sculpted white boy' who Nirvi finds in Alex's room
Ep 2.
>Pharmacist, a pharmacist who supplies Alex's prescription
Ep 3.
>First Student and Second Student, who the Doctor finds high and experiencing 'extreme cognition' from the effects of the Axon's voodoo shit
>Ravers, people at the rave spouting super-intelligent DRUG TALK
Ep 4.
>UNIT Corporal, is present in one short scene that doesn't seem to have any importance but might be some sort of teaser.
>Bookish Man (Andrew Westfield), bookish, likes coffee. Has 2 lines in this story.
>Unit Guardsmen 1 and 2, 1 line each.
Ep 4 postcredits
>White & Black Guardians

If you want to voice a character, literally just say so and then put on your best Big Finish voice. If you want to vocaroo your shit, upload it by any other means or just email it to [email protected], any method is fine and time/quality is of no importance.

I dread to imagine. His friends must all be on a similar level to him, that of a 4 year old
>>
>Doctor Who club at my college
>mostly fat girls who lusted after Matt Smith and cosplayed/wished they were River Song
>whine that they hate Peter, he's 'too old and not cute and mean' and want Matt back
>continuing hating Peter for his first two seasons being total cunts every time he's brought up
>They watch Husbands of River Song because River is back and they only care about the romance crap
>Now pretend they always loved Peter and say he's great
>still only ever discuss River and think she should be his companion full time

Fucking disgusting plebs.

man, those scripts are bad

>SENSATIONS OF THE PASSAGE OF TIME.

what is that even supposed to mean? Does Jack want the director to literally display the passage of time or does he want it to be a voice over or something?
i'm reading a bit through the scripts and then send in a voice clip.

We'll definitely include them, that's part of the fun. Doing this properly with music and sound is half the fun. (We'll probably just use stock sounds desu.) I'm more interested in whether we'll be following the script exactly or sneaking in maymays.

>Previously missing episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 of Enemy of the World were recovered in 2013, alongside episodes 2, 4, 5, and 6 of Web of Fear, two stories from the fifth Season of Doctor Who, originally screened in 1967/8. The films had been found gathering dust in a store room at a television relay station in Nigeria.

>These finds completed the two stories, with the exception of Episode Three of The Web of Fear, an important episode in the history of the series as it introduces the character of the Brigadier. At the time it was claimed that this episode was not located with the other finds. The third episode was reconstructed by the BBC Doctor Who Restoration Team, for the DVD release of the story.

>However, speaking at the Pandorica 2015 convention, being held in Bristol this weekend, Philip Morris announced that when he initially located the episodes, episode 3 was indeed part of the collection.

>The negotiations for the return of the episodes took over six months, and when the episodes were finally returned to the UK, episode three had vanished. Morris said he believed that after word of the find leaked out an offer was made to a member of staff at the Nigerian station, and that the episode had been sold to a private collector.

How can we find this fuckface private collector and kill him?

>tfw about to finish my full rewatch of the classic series
Honestly I'm just glad it went out on such a high note. It's a shame it was cancelled but it had to end some time and it was never going to happen naturally, at least it ended with a great story. I hope NuWho can be as lucky after it's devastated by the Chibnall era.
>>
>>71452499
Don't be silly anon. NuWho will become worse than ever under Chibnall, but it will be the kind of worse that people slavishly eat up, and the show will rocket back into national awareness, becoming once more a beloved institution of Britishness even as everyone who actually likes Doctor Who commits suicide.
>>

>>
>>71452588
It will be a romp every week. No serious or hard to follow plotlines, which is exactly what the show needs right now. It will grasp public attention again.
>>
>>71452744
>It will be a romp every week. No serious or hard to follow plotlines
I don't know why you think this, Chibnall may have written a couple of 'romp'y episodes but his other Doctor Who work consists of things like The Hungry Earth and 42, and his biggest claim to fame is an elaborate crime mystery drama about the death of a young boy.
>>
>>71452802
yeah but the BBC recognise that the show is failing due to Moffat's incessant habit of writing 'dark' and convoluted plots which the general audience don't follow.
They'll want to return it to the tones of the Tennant era, which was mostly action/adventure every week

>>
>>71452912
There's still hope anon. He's express consideration of a writers' room, which might destroy individuality but it will at least mitigate his shitness. Pray he goes for it.

Although desu, the idea of coming up with a Doctor Who story with a big group of people sounds like shitloads of fun.
>>
>>71452939
Really? What about the S9 opener which centered around the morality of murdering a child who would later become a universal war criminal?
Or Heaven Sent, where The Doctor is encased in a torture prison for billions of years being followed round by a corpse. Contrast that to the openings/finales of the RTD era. Partners in Crime/Journeys End for example
>>
For better or worse S10 is looking much more lighter than S8/9. Probably to transition into Chibnall I guess.

Does anyone else feel like they're literally not ready for this to be Capaldi's final series? It's like he only just walked in the door. With Matt there were so many split series and gaps and then a whole specials malarkey it felt like he'd been around for more than he really had. But with Capaldi it's like, fuck. Two uninterrupted blocks of episodes, two Christmas specials, and it feels like only yesterday it was still leak /who/. It's not fucking fair man. He's going to be forced out due to pressure from BBC Worldwide and other shit because they'll scapegoat his oldness/etc. for low merchandise sales and the like. Everything is garbage. The world does not deserve good Doctor Who.
>>

>>
>>71453322
I mean, there are worse places the TV show could have stopped. It's a nice enough episode, has a theme of closure, and at least it wasn't in the middle of a plotline or anything.
But regardless, as long as one person still remembers Doctor Who, it will never truly end.

Does anyone think it's weird how much of NuWho is taken up by Christmas specials? I mean if you have 12 episodes a season plus a Christmas special every year then that's 7.69% of the series that ends up Christmas themed. In reality we've had Christmas specials even more often than that due to weird scheduling. By my calculations, after this year's Christmas special we'll have 12 Christmas episodes out of 143 episodes of NuWho, meaning a Christmas rate of 8.39%. This, on top of the fact that Christmas specials are longer than normal episodes, so in terms of running time the show could conceivably be up to 10% Christmas episodes. Isn't that fucking weird to anyone? The concept of Doctor Who isn't inherently Christmas-related at all and yet approximately 10% of NuWho is Christmas stuff. Just think about it.
>>
>>71456064
I'm not super happy with 'event episodes' coinciding with Christmas episodes, but otherwise I'm not too fussed about it. Christmas is a cultural time of getting together, celebrating, having nice things given to you, and as a little kid it's hype as fuck. The fact Doctor Who has built something like that into its current identity is just a reflection of how at home it is in the cultural landscape.
>>
>>71454887
What's the most frustrating about Moff is that he's got talent for writing both absolute shit and pure perfection.

I used to argue that the Fatoff needed an editor or something to keep his autism in check, but full autist Moff gave us Heaven Sent, a fucking modern classic in knowing how to tell a story, and Hell Bent, a disaster of ideas and pure waste of potential In general Moff hasn't written a good finale since Series 5.

Since Showrunner Moff has given both the best and the worst of nuWho, I'm fine with him going back to just Writer Moff, and just giving us the best.
>>
>>71456990
>I'm fine with him going back to just Writer Moff, and just giving us the best.
If he doesn't quit the show altogether.
>>
>>71456990
>and Hell Bent, a disaster of ideas and pure waste of potential
But that's where you're wrong, my good friend Anonymous, Hell Bent was at least a solid 7/10.

>>71457055
Given how bitchy he's been about RTD not writing for his era it'd be a bit hypocritical if he never wrote for Doctor Who again but Who nose.
>>
>>71457055
Yeah I don't think he's writing anymore episodes after his last. He said on his sons periscope stream that "once i'm done i'm done" and "people are sick of me" or something.
>>
>>71457164
>it'd be a bit hypocritical
that's Steven!
>>
>>71457196
I'm not so sure he'd ever truly be able to give it up. I feel he might take a long break then make some sort of grand re-entrance.
>>
I'll be honest, I'm actually kind of looking forward to Chibnall who. I've mostly loved the Moffat Era and maybe it'll be trashy compared to what we've been getting but it'll be a change of pace at least.
>>
>>71457289
He might want to enjoy the show as a fan again. And escape being associated at all with the downfall of the Chibbies era.
>>
>>71457289
And speaking of which, what the fuck is Rob Shearman up to?

>>71457334
It will definitely be a different experience, going in without even the slightest positive expectation. I'll probably be pleasantly surprised.
>>
>>71457334
I'll say I'm also excited for such a dramatic change but god damn it why did it have to be fucking chinballs
>>
>>71457164
No. It really is a disaster of ideas and a pure waste of potential. Like most of his finales.
>>
>>71457289
>>71457196
It would be inconsiderate of him to write for S11, in my opinion. And inconsiderate if he tries to make some sort of grand return. Chris will be trying to take the show in his own direction and already fighting against Moff-comparisons, it would be even harder to do this if the old showrunner is still sticking around. I want Moffat to write episodes in the future, but lowkey ones and not until Chris has settled in and everybody recognises that Moff is no longer the boss.
>>
>>71457377
That's the thing. With the amount of anti-hype it gets on /who/ maybe we'll all be blown away just from low expectations.

Kill the moon wasn't even that bad but that was basically the same effect in reverse.
>>
>>71457527
I actually kind of liked KTM except for Courtney. She was awful in that episode and I actually thought she was sort of funny in Caretaker. It was Harness's idea to use her in the episode too. I have no idea why he wanted to use her in that story, she brought nothing positive to it and he wrote her like shit.
>>
>>71457377
>And speaking of which, what the fuck is Rob Shearman up to?
Horror anthologies apparently
>>
>>71457527
Trouble is if you anti-hype something TOO much, when you finally watch it, you are looking for reasons to hate it rather than seeing what it truly is.
>>
>>71449677
Just an update, it would seem we have our Doctor.

The hunt is still on to find the perfect biracial politics student to play Nirvi. There is some truly GOAT material here this is an unmissable opportunity.

>NIRVI CHANDRATREYA

>>
>>71458254
Could this be the return of small beginnings
>>
>>71458254
Any male roles that could be played by an American?
>>
>>71458525
Yes. This is a hilarious idea.
>>
>>71458254
If all else fails and a brit can't be found Belle can with an american accent, and I'm happy to provide mouth sound effects aside from the pew pew if needed with varying degrees of resemblance.
>>
>>71458571
Literally any you want. I don't think accent accuracy is a problem, if anything it makes it funnier to have some variation. We've already had a contribution from a French anon. Whether you want to attempt a terrible British accent or play it American is completely up to you.
In terms of important male characters we still need Goggles (mad scientist) and Alex (trans boy), and we also need voices for Axos and the Axons (these could be absolutely anyone), but anyone who wants to fill in some of the minor parts is more than welcome.
>>
>>71458810
How big of a role is Goggles? I could some recording for a character but not sure how much.
>>
>>71458874
He has a few quick conversations with the Axons over the first 3 eps, then in part 4 he gets a full villain dialogue with the Doctor.
>>
>>71458963
Have any smaller parts?
>>
>>71458810
>>71458963
ayy I can record some shit for Goggles tomorrow morning.
>>
>>71458771
Cloister I want you to do literally every sound effect with mouth sounds
>>
>>71459071
Glancing over the script, not a whole lot of stage or foley direction, aside from the opening doors, I could do a creeaaaak for that, and the clack clack clack at the end. I'll read more in depth tomorrow, by dog the dialog is clunky.
>>
>>71458997
OK, a few suggestions for smaller male parts that are still interesting.

>Axons (gold guys)
Have a total of about 17 lines across all 4 episodes, could easily have one person doing all of these lines, no seriously weighty conversations

>First Student or Second Student (ep 3)
They basically appear and have one conversation which the Doctor intrudes into, it's not big or indepth but there's enough lines to have fun with. They're both high as balls and use some long words.

If you want a really small part (or multiple small ones) you could go for
>Dozy, literally has 3 lines and only exists as a caricature of a misogynist boy
>Chris, literally has 4 lines and is basically just a sex object
>UNIT Corporal, gets to yell "Doctor? Doctor?!" into a phone

There's more, definitely have a look over the scripts if you're stuck for ideas.
>>
>>71459459
I'll try Axons or Dozy. My acting will be terrible though.
>>
>>71459601
>My acting will be terrible though.
That's what I wanna hear. We wouldn't be honouring the spirit of the piece if we acted it well.

(Although if anyone does want to act well, please feel free. The spirit is not in desperate need of honouring.)
>>

>>
>>71459674

>>
>>71459952
Nirvi parts, 1, 2, 3 and 4. (Each part is only about 19 short pages, they are just under Classic length episodes.)

If you're trying to find a specific character or something just shout.
>>
>>71460076
Alright cool. What's the dreamscape and thoughtform about?
>>
>>71460112
The leak that happened in April had stuff from multiple serials in, Thoughtform/Dreamscape is one of the other ones.
The table at http://doctorwhogeneral.wikia.com/wiki/Foreman#The_Leaked_Scripts lists them all.

I don't think anyone's actually read them to know what the fuck they're about. Most people gave up after Nirvi.
>>
>>71460174
I'm gonna record Dozy lines and then check out Thoughtform/Dreamscape

God damn, Poul really got fucked up after Robots of Death.

Guy's basically a lunatic now.
>>
>>71460995
Why, what's he done?
>>
>>71461032
He's got robophobia and PTSD after the serial and he's barely managing to keep himself together.

He's already blocked off memories of the event and accused the doctor of being Taren Capel.

He basically belongs in an asylum at this point.
