It gets really embarrassing when the writers actually begin swapping Bart and Lisa's roles, because though it's obvious Bart is dumber, he originally had fast-talking/smartass qualities that they eventually started considering unacceptable: They just NEED every other character to be unequivocally and utterly inferior than Lisa in each and every possible way and context.
Pic related is a scene (from the Marge gets boobs episode) which I honestly believe was originally written with their roles literally reversed and hastily changed down the line. Everything about it feels wrong, with Lisa being the one that sibling-torments Bart and the one who gets the silly standup-style joke

I didn't start hearing this shit until recently. All through my youth, and through my teenage years, I never heard people talk shit on Lisa. Lisa was only ever good when paired with Homer or when Milhouse was trying to ask her out. I don't watch newer episodes but from what I've heard, Homer is not a lovable idiot anymore and is a straight asshole and the Milhouse joke ran dry a long time ago but they're still throwing it in there.
