So I just saw this for the first time since they put it on Netflix. I'm a huge fan of the first one and had seen the second, so thought I'd give it a look.
Holy shit it is pretty fucking bad, almost as bad as 2. The writing is atrocious. In the first movie, the raptors are pretty smart, but in this one they have their own damn language. It's taken too far.
I did like some of the scenes/set pieces though. The pterodactyl scene was pretty cool and the spinosaurus scene at the end wasn't bad either.
Thoughts?
Better than Jurassic World.
It's a slasher flick with dinosaurs. 7.5/10 would watch over Jurassic Park 4.

As shitty as the writing was, I absolutely love the dinosaurs in this movie.
I was really upset with how much they backtracked on this with World by making them almost 100% CGI with bad designs.

Yeah that's a good point. It's basically a high budget B Movie. They do have good craft and make a good effort at the action when they could have half-assed it so I appreciate that. JW is pretty insufferable though. I could not stand it

Jurassic World was miles better because it knew what it was and essentially became satire. It's more of a comedy than anything, though I get that a lot of people don't see it that way. The director was given the script and if you take note of his choices, he decided it was best to present everything as satire because it was so ridiculous. I found myself laughing quite a bit at it poking fun at itself, and actually genuinely enjoy it in that regard. It is not at all a Jurassic Park sequel, but it is a rate gem of self-aware blockbuster and making the best of an unnecessary reboot.
