This. Christians love these types of anecdotes and they'll just eat them up without any verification. Yeah, I guarantee that if the transcripts weren't entirely fake they at least left a lot out on purpose and very specifically selected which segments to transcribe to achieve the desired reaction from the media and public. With the full tapes released we'd probably see the cut content and whoever was in charge of the tapes didn't want that so they destroyed them in favor of letting people form their own opinions based on the complete information.

The massacre was a terrible tragedy and it shouldn't have happened.
