So superman lashes out like a child, damaging a companies property because he cant handle a little bants?

>superman is evil in the snyderverse

So it's OK for Reeve Superman to let a guy break his hand hitting him and trash a pinball machine, but Cavill Superman is out of bounds. Got it. Also:

1) If that truck's on the road, it's guaran-damn-teed it's insured. Know what clause of the policy will cover that damage? Act of God. Look it up. I guess it's not humor unless it's lowbrow enough for people to get the joke while they're texting.

2) About a decade and a half separate this incident and Jonathan Kent's death. Clark's just about ready to step into the spotlight.

3) He's already risked exposing himself on the oil rig. He's not all that concerned about hiding his powers anymore, just his identity.

4) The bar probably stands to gain patrons coming to see the "freak accident." There's a good chance that they'd try to turn it into a landmark.
>>
>>71260040

Such pleading.

Snyder Superman is a passive aggressive, beta little bitch. There are hundreds of ways he could have dealt with Mr. Arbitrary dickhead truck driver, without coming across as a faggot weakling or a secret alien. Instead he walks off like fucking John Rambo and leaves that poor waitress to get raped on the pinball machine.

Then outside he gives the dude a stern talking to about being respectful to women while maintaining that iron grip. Again: this is how nightclub bouncers deal with drunk assholes on a regular basis.

???

You don't think it's better? Better than what? Leaving the waitress to get raped on the pinball machine? He's a visibly ripped male staff member in a bar and one of his female colleagues is being sexually harassed. Is the best approach to the situation to take a beer over the the head then walk out of your job, leave the waitress to her fate and trash the guy's motor on the way out? That's pathetic, it's like keying the side of a Chad's car because he laughed at your trenchcoat and mascara.

Keying a car is a display of petty impotence. Trashing a multi-ton big rig silently and quickly is a display of power.

It's a callback to the old myths about gods walking among mortals disguised and rewarding/punishing mortals for the treatment they give these anonymous strangers.

The trucker acted like a dickhead. Something punished him for it. Walking him out and man-handling him is something he's probably been on the receiving end of before. It doesn't appear to have left much of an impression. Now there's something out there that won't just give you the ole business on a physical level, but it can also ruin your whole week, all because you decided being a drunk dickhead was acceptable behavior. Is the next guy you fuck with just a guy? Is the next waitress whose ass you slap just a woman?

There's something greater than you out there, and it's not putting up with your bullshit. If it can do this to a truck, how much easier could it have dismantled you?
>>
>>71263370
>There's something greater than you out there, and it's not putting up with your bullshit. If it can do this to a truck, how much easier could it have dismantled you?
No. It put up with my bullshit. It never faced me like a man. I got to rape that bitch and someone else is footing the bill for my insured truck that was trashed by a natural disaster. Message not received. Will rape and bully again.
>>
>>71263702
One thing's for sure. You'll troll again. Here's another sure thing:

I won't be here to feed you.

The fact that you think that sexual harassment inevitably leads to rape in any and all situations says a lot more about you than it says about anything happening in this film.
>>
I fucking hate this scene so fucking much.

Even IF Clark didn't have superpowers, it would make way more sense for an young able-bodied and physically very capable, Clark to go back and rescue the dog or whoever rather than his ageing father. If Johnathan Kent thought he could run and get back, surely Clark Kent could do it much better, given that he's just physically more fit to run.

I'm saying that even if this were a normal family, Johnathan Kent's death would've been stupid.
>>
>>71264190

Fathers protect the family. That's their role. Afather isn't going to send his son into danger, even if he knows it's not really danger, it's instinctual. And in a dangerous situation a son will always accede to his father's instructions.

>inb4 'I wouldn't though because muh -'

that's because you're a faggot
>>
>>71264304
Right, if the son is too young. But this dude was already defying his father. Children do obey their father's will in a situation like this because they're scared and paniced and fearful of their own life and of their families. There is no such fear here.
>>
>>71264395
>hildren do obey their father's will in a situation like this because they're scared and paniced and fearful of their own life and of their families.

No, they do so because of the natural pecking order of a family.

This sums up everything I feel about Jonathan's scenes very well. They're designed to promote discussion and to do some very interesting things psychologically.

They took this character that occupies a rather unique place in the pop culture pantheon and tweaked him just enough to give us all an opportunity to examine ourselves and reflect on how mature and wise we really are.

If you think that's dumb or delusional, that's fine, but if it's a coincidence, it's an awful big one.

>Jonathan Kent is not a character in Man of Steel, he's a plot device.

>Jonathan says 'let those neighbor kids drown'. That is extreme. That is the kind of response that requires some explanation. Does Jonathan have PTSD? Does Jonathan have some dark moment in his past, some close call that taught him that any cost is fine to protect Clark's secret, even the death of kids in this town that he probably has watched grow up? Did he kill a man two states over and change his identity and doesn't want to get caught when the media looks into his background? Nope. We're supposed to treat this as the natural response of a parent who had to raise Superman. 'Of course this is what a Father would do! This is the only conclusion a normal person would make!' says Snyder after furiously masturbating to the idea of raping Batman. Everybody doesn't need a half hour backstory, but 'let kids die' is not a foregone conclusion. This needs to be explained. It's not.

>Jonathan Kent is the most important character in MoS. Every decision that Clark makes stems from 'terrible advice to let people die rather than reveal yourself'. Every action Clark takes either embraces that advice or rejects it. AND WE HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHY JONATHAN FELT THAT WAY. WE COULD HAVE CUT THAT PHANTOM MENACE OPENING ON KRYPTON TO SPEND FIVE MINUTES ON THE POINT OF THE WHOLE MOVIE.

>Classic Pa Kent also wanted Clark to hide his powers. But he never forbid Clark from ever using them. He loved him like a Father and raised him to make his choices based on basic morality and common sense. Classic Pa Kent taught him right from wrong but ultimately trusted him with his choices. Characters need reasons for making terrible decisions if they are moral authorities. This isn't about 'he's a mirror for what you would do'. MoS Jonathan will happily look Mrs. Ross in the eye at Pete's funeral after Clark lets him drown. That is a fucking crazy thing that needs to be explained or the whole movie falls apart.
>>
>>71257673
The Over-Man does not conform to the morality or considerations of mortal men. He is above such petty material needs and treats the world and its contents as his playthings, as is the right of his blood.

So yes, it is kino.

Superman confirmed for white knight
>>

Are you fucking kidding me? I used to live in redneck, America and we had a car crash into a parked tractor that by sheer luck, knocked the tractor up onto an old tree stump, perfectly balanced.

The owners painted it up in red, white, and blue and hung a marquee on it to advertise bands and shit.
>>
That guy was a maximum asshole.

Also, not all trucks are owned by a company. A lot of hauls are done with contractors that have privately owned trucks. That truck probably belonged to that guy, so Supes destroyed his entire livelihood.

Guy was an ass, but just hitting him once and knocking a few teeth out would've been a far better solution, and probably would've gotten him laid by that bartender chick.

Not my Superman.
>>
>>71258271
Bullshit.
>>
>>71258232
It was a really passive aggressive thing to do. Just knocking the guy out or throwing him into a table would've proved the same point, and done far less damage to both the guy and his property.

Precisely, it shows that your perfect hero, despite being overwhelmly phisically superior to any human being, instead of being another boring boyscout is just as insecure and flawed as his enemies.

Can't plebs really grasp even the simplest things?

Human life, idiot.

this is more like a new superman, you know, for current year. dark, angsty, brooding. it's working out great so far.

>he thinks kino is a meme

I love how easy it is to spot plebs nowadays

Not even close. You need to add a word to your vocabulary: indemnity.

>Act of God. Look it up.
If this is really true I unsarcastically am clapping for Snyder. Or would it be Goyer?
>>
>>71257673
>he cant handle a little bants?
Well, he is american.
>>
>>71262455
I love how the fedora crowd has turned Snyder into the emperor without clothes. These movies are not deep. They're Michael Bay breezing through an art magazine and comics and stealing all the visuals to make it appear rich.

Doesn't look like a company truck. The guy was probably an owner operator. Meaning that he actually owned the truck himself. I'm assuming though that the wood itself was company property and was damaged but assurance will cover that. That guy being at a bar will probably get fired though, it doesn't look like there is a sleeper in the back so how would he have slept it off?

>>71263370
You're putting way too much energy into making these trainwrecks substantial. Read a book or something.
>>

>fired
I'm an idiot, I just said owner operator. Possibly arrested for operation of the vehicle while drinking. Who is going to believe that he just found it like that?

That's marketing to get people to buy funny books. You're pretty gay to attack this current year form of marketing when DC has to reboot their whole universe every year. They truly rebooted again this very week!

this, there is literally nothing deep with this movie

Make him look more human than a god.

I'm rereading Aurelius's "Meditations" right now. Got any suggestions from your own reading list?

What's funnier is that exact phrase was even used in the flashback that immediately preceded this scene. Guess that's just more of those crazy coincidences again.

also the girl was into it because she's a dirty slut and loves being mistreated in public.
it shows how this alien can so easily mistake human emotions for nothing and ultimately disrespects the girl for having her fun.

Probably heated up the metal so the lumber just pushed through the cab.

>the "muh I don't know what an origin story is and use previous Superman films as a basis for this clark" post

Superman didn't do that, Clark doesn't truely become "Superman" until after his death and in JL.

It was a nice contrast between his ability to refrain from engaging into a fight with that drunk pleb, not even laying a finger on him, but also not being an "Perfect Boi scout" you can't empathize with. Because he is just "a man" trying to do the right thing, and he hasn't even developed to his ideal self yet.

So fucking what. If i had godlike powers and was alienated from my home and Earth, I would fuck his shit up, but that's a comment on my character. Clark was a better man, he will be better, but miles better already.
