Redmond barry literally came out of nowhere, seduced his mother in front of his dying father, took over/made a mockery of his family legacy and fortune, mistreated him throughout childhood, cheated on his mother with handmaidens and treated him as an outsider to the family once barrys son was born. Bullington had a right to be angry but when he didnt spare barry in the duel he tipped from being a sympathetic character to a villian. I completely understand why he did what he did but he was still unlikable in comparison to barry who had clawed his way from the bottom to get where he was, whereas bullington had it handed to him on a plate until barry arrived.
