A guard then subdues a prisoner. Another prisoner puts his hands on that guard while subduing a resisting inmate. The guard then subdues that secondary inmate. The original inmate then begins attacking the guard while the guard attempts to keep the second inmate restrained.
The guard is pretty blameless. It's Suzanne's fault for attacking him, and P should know better to get involved like that. Did the guard act perfectly? Of course not. But there's guards in America that literally murder inmates in horrible ways and get away consequence free and continue to work there. This wouldn't draw news attention in the slightest.

The show got unbearable in Season 3. They had an idea of how they wanted to start that season and how they wanted to end it, but just filled it with 10 episodes of the same filler bullshit repeating itself in between that.
Season 4 pulled out of that and back into Things Are Fucking Happening land, but unlike the first two seasons, there wasn't really a driving central story. The storylines sort of stepped on each others toes and concluded in weird places. Piper got branded on, like, episode 4, and then that whole plotline was done. Alex and Lolly's thing just kind of faded in and out of importance, until suddenly it ended and then it was never talked about again. Dayanara sort of started to join the Dominican gang, but then we don't see her again for like 5 episodes except little snippets, and suddenly she's brandishing a gun and is a hardened criminal ready to blow someone's brains out.
This season felt epileptic, like they knew they fucked up bad in Season 3 and tried to do the opposite by firing off a bunch of different dynamic plotlines to carry the show. It did make for a better season overall, but it falls way short of the first two.
I guess the one plus side is they dropped the panty empire plotline like a sack of potatoes, so hopefully we'll never be forced to sit through Piper's actor trying to act intimidating again.

I was about to post a big rant about how it's such fucking bullshit that they had Daya, out of all the characters this season, to get the gun and threaten the guard. Because what the fuck did Daya do all season? Mope that her mom was gun and kind of half-assed get involved with the Dominicans, she had maybe 15 minutes of screentime all season, blah blah blah, so why the fuck does she get this moment, and not what's her face that the guy made eat a baby mouse, not Ruiz, or anyone else super affected by this season's developments?
But then I realized. Whoever aims the gun at the guard is fucked, development wise. They have to get punished in some way, whether it's being killed during a confrontation between the prisoners and the police/other guards, or sent to a maximum security facility for murder or attempted murder. And they aren't going to bring someone who attempted to kill a guard back into that minimum security facility--Daya is a goner.

This season was pretty good. Just once though I wish they would have left piscatella alone. He was fine when he was just a strict gay man that reminded the inmates that prison isn't supposed to be glamorous fun. The only part that's a true story is that Piper was involved with a woman who got her to participate in an international drug smuggling ring, she made money off it, broke off the relationship, it caught up with her years later and she was sentenced to 13 months in prison. Everything else is completely fictional or spun out to make it more interesting. For example the real Piper did make a comment about the food being terrible in front of the prison cook, but all that happened was the cook told her off, and nothing more was made of it.
Piper's real prison time would have never made for an interesting book.
