All I was expecting was an exciting, if not dumb, alien invasion movie like the first Independence Day but they couldn't even do that.
That whole plot with the other alien orb was cringe-inducing at times and felt like it belonged in a different movie. You never feel the real gravitas of the alien attack like in the first one. The young cast, apart from Maika Monroe, was awful. The old cast felt unneeded to the story and most had little to do. The CG was mediocre. The action scenes were dull. The other random sub-plots dragged the movie to a halt.
Man this was bad. Bill Pullman, Maika Monroe, William Fichtner, and the guy that played the African warlord were the only good parts.
also the alien queen was awful. Her non-armoured design was also a carbon copy of the alien queen from Aliens.
the first movie is an entertaining throwback to 50s alien invasion b movies…this movie was just nothing
>the sperg cynics on /tv/ hate something
that means it's good.
>The sperg children like something IE:MCU or transformers
It's probably shit
you expected a rowdy nigger and got something much worse
the jew
But how hawt was bloom in this?
>>71238451
yep. very similar to my immediate takeaway
bravo op
does will smith show up?
>>71238451
you sounds like a major tool, and most of you here have no idea what you are talking about.
i'll download it, smoke some weed and i'm sure i'll had some fun with it, it cant be worst than capeshit
>>71239611
there are a few pictures of him
>>71239635
hey retard: i got high as fuck before i saw this garbage. weed, pills, and liquor won't make the experience any better. it's fucking garbage if you have any semblance of an analytical brain. 75% (and that's being generous) of the movie is wasted on filler, and every interesting concept is squandered in mediocrity.
but go ahead, wait for the dvdrip and skip my advice. waste your time and your decent high. you dumb fuck.
>>71238451
Was anyone else surprised to see Mia Malkova in this movie?
>>71238451
Bu-bu-but is the movie at least fun? and revels in it's own universe that it tries to establish?
I-it does...right?
>>71239694
dude we will all watch it anyway, we also all know it's shit, if you were expecting anything else jokes on you, i'm not the one who paid for it
The female casting is fucking terrible.
>>71239791
>if you were expecting anything else jokes on you
i was expecting enjoyable, passable schlock on the level of the first movie. i got forgettable trash on the level of any modern syfy original flick.
>i'm not the one who paid for it
i work at a movie theater senpai, i didn't pay a goddamn cent
Spot on, OP. Pullman was brilliant and did his best to salvage the garbage, but it was still garbage.
Have the Aliens been named yet?
>>71240018
Yes, they're called ALIUMS
>>71240018
Ayyl'maons
>>71240018
Harvesters
Best part was any time based Goldblum was on screen.
Worst part was nearly anything else.
>that part where he gently protests waiting for the little girl to grab her dog
Next movie will be about a counterinvasion and groundwar
>>71239533
I see you've discord post-contrarianism contrarianism. Maybe some day you'll figure out what you actually like.
>>71240170
you mean what THIS one should have been
>Ayys land on earth
>becomes EDF:the movie, with pew pew ground war
>queen reveal in the end, leading to the sequel aka, the plot of this one
>>71240091
best lines of the movie were by goldbloom, as always
>everybody get on the bus
>stay behind the yellow line please
>>71238451
>they couldn't even do that.
if it was that easy hollywood would literally make 20 a year
>>71239533
>being new and triggered
Why do you even come here faggot?
>>71239931
those are some high-grade autism cargo pants
>>71241138
I liked how Jeff and his dad both said "It's definitely bigger than the last one".
The dad had a couple of good lines but was mostly not that good. Also what was up with him adopting all those kids, including the hot 16 year old babysitter or whatever she was supposed to be.
>>71239749
>Was anyone else surprised to see Mia Malkova in this movie?
Tell me more!
>>71241316
Sounds like you're the only one that's triggered there kiddo
So is this thing flopping of what? I saw the movie tonight (opening night) at a prime showtime and theatre had maybe half a dozen people in it. Meanwhile I saw Conjuring 2 a couple nights ago, a movie that had been out for well over a week, and the theatre was packed.
Fuck that sequel bait ending. Data should have never come back, his whole storyline in this was horrendous.
Maika was a qt though
ill probably just watch this for maika and joey they're both pretty qt
>>71241484
>Also what was up with him adopting all those kids,
i think they were trying to recreate the storyline of Russel Case and his three kids from first one but it just ended up being a pointless and dumb distraction from the rest of the story. The movie would have been loads better if Judd's character just died from the harvester
>>71242170
Agree 100%, it was pointless.
is it true Africa Corps guy went full ninja gaiden on a Xeno?
Maika Monroe thread
>>71242459
This movie will be good for Maika's career, right?
>>71242247
Yeah
>>71242495
Hopefully it'll put her more in the mainstream. She was one of the better parts of the movie
>Jeff Goldblum
he still acta, that's weird
>>71242546
Yeah she was cute as fuck in it.
>>71242247
yep and it was glorious
>>71242610
it's not like he ever stopped.

>>71238451
is that mia malkova on the left?
>>71242735
thats maika monroe, phamily
What's going on here?
Also Liam was awful but not as awful as Will Smith's fake son
>>71243090
Hang on, is that the chick from the Guest?
Those predatory features seem familiar
>>71243090
Will Smith's son was an utterly forgettable character. They shouldn't have bothered.
>>71243323
It Follows
>>71243357
>>71243323
I'm an idiot, she was in the Guest too.
African warlord is EZ from that Segal kino
>>71243424
Kind of sad how he's more relevant than Seagal these days.
>>71243357
Same actress
>>71238451
>You never feel the real gravitas of the alien attack like in the first one
Holy fuck, this.
I spent most of the movie wondering when it was going to start.
>>71238451
So why didn't Smith do this?
>>71243733
Glad I'm not alone, I seriously was surprised when I finally realized the only disaster scenes we were going to get was when the damn thing landed and nothing more.
>>71243759
Everybody's got their own story on why, so believe whatever is convenient.
Personally, I think he had a flash of clarity and realized sequels to 20 year old movies just don't work unless Star Wars is at the front of it
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-Smith-Isn-t-Independence-Day-Resurgence-72184.html
>>71238451
>Movie was really cliche
>The fucking sphere's reaction to be touched by a human surprised me the most
I was convinced it was gonna swallow him and his consciousness would control it. The character was incredibly useless and annoying up until that point, so it was more wishful thinking.
>>71241353
he installs cable tv, those are work appropriate
>>71239533
>Caring about anyone else's opinion
Faggot
It's fucking obnoxious the way it beats you over the head with dumb references to the original.
>NEGATIVE IMPACT

>LET'S SHOW THIS BITCH A CLOSE ENCOUNTER
>*punches alien in the face*
>>71242717
YOU KNEW DEN, Area 51
YOU KNEW DEN, and you did nothing...
>>71242247
One of the best parts
>>71242459
When Liam first began talking to her, I thought she was his sister or something due to how young she looked like a 16 year old lol
I fucking loved the way this movie began, showing us moving real fast through the universe until we come to an Alien computer who is watching Pullman's 96' speech and right before he says "We celebrate our Independence Day" the Alien presses a button as a loud sound emerges and old Bill wakes up in bed as if from a nightmare.
GENIUS
>>71241907
maika monroe and mia look kinda similar, think thats what he was getting at
>>71244928
lmao... this
Perfect opening to tell the audience "get ready kids cuz you're all in for a shitfest unlike any you've seen"
>>71238451
>The CG was mediocre
>>71244233
>mad I know how sperg mobmentality works
>mad I can harness the energy of /tv/ for my own gain
Stay mad spergie.
