having recently rewatched Twin Peaks, i can hereby admit that it's overrated drivel. i defended its merits on several occasion but after rewatching the series its cheesy melodrama really grates on modern sensibilities. it feels very outdated and the brief sequences of brilliance happen few and far between. so how can i show with so many negative qualities be rated so highly among /tv/ers?

i found the first season difficult to get through. the second season, after the first couple of episodes, was indeed dire and took some extreme fortitude to complete. while i had fond memories of the series having watched it nearly a decade ago, rewatching it reminded me of how much of a slog most of the series was. the cheesy campiness, the bad acting, the uneven pacing, the imbalanced tone, etc. having said that, the series does have a certain charm, to its benefit, and the spooky parts with Bob, the black lodge, etc, work rather well, despite the stupid owls thing. my two cents.
