It isn't fair to apply bourgeois concepts like people earning their wealth to a feudal system where people's stations are determined by their birth more than anything. The best someone can hope for in that situation is do what the sparrow did, learn a trade and go from a poor craftsman or merchant to a rich one, but even then your wealth would pale in comparison to even a minor nobleman.
That said it's also tough to try to reform the system to bring it in line with modern concepts of fairness because the society has such limited resources compared with an industrialized one. Only through a level of concentration of wealth which to us seems obscene do even the elites achieve a level of quality of life and personal development that fully realizes human potential. It's these elites who hold society together and raise it above the level of tribalism. Even Slaver's Bay's society can be excused when viewed through this lens because the extreme hardship of the slaves accommodates an extreme level of sophistication of the masters, a phenomenon acknowledged IRL by even the very individualistic and liberal minded Ancient Greeks.
