FNL is a very good teen/family drama, has a lot of heart and soul, with a spot-on blue-collar/small Texas town charm, tasteful aesthetics/music and overall life-affirming and wholesome tone. It does go overboard with soap opera-tier storylines sometimes but it's always done without any irony or cynicism. It's very endearing, always sincere, often heartbreaking, simply because it deals with relatable situations like abandonment issues, crushed dreams or characters trying to be better persons despite hardships or making mistakes along the way.
