What does /tv/ think of the original Fright Night? My friend and I watched this the other day and he couldn't stop laughing at how bad it was. I grew up with it so I never thought it was that bad but now I'm curious of what others think about it.

I also liked the whole "actor on a TV show gets involved with the real deal" theme in the movie
GOAT SFX too. The scene where they guy turns out to be a zombie and melts is handsdown one of the coolest scenes from any horror movie ever

I remember being 15 and buying that film on VHS, it was an 18 rated film and the woman let me buy it after saying I watched it on TV and thought it was good, I felt like such a badass.

This, it surprises me how many millinials expect movies to have great effects when they were made 30 years ago.
I went to a screening of Evil Dead like a month ago, and had fedora wearing college kids laughing at some of the scenes where people are dying.
Such an underrated film and the sequel is good too.
They screened the original in my area and it was great.
The remake was cast well except for Dr Who but I think it was PG-13. Garbage.

My grandpa loved the Fright Night movies. It took place in the 80's yeah, but it had a totally 50's or 60's vibe to it, so he related to it more. It's campy, but well made. Most campy horror flicks from the 80's are average at best. This one like Re-Animator was a good blend of horror and comedy. Haven't seen Part 2 though.

I rewatched the original and the remake the other week and the remake actually held up way better than I remembered it, while the original was even campier than I remembered. Colin Farrell is one menacing-looking apple-eater.Evil Ed was a mistake.
