The (bullshit) explanation is that Sansa knew Jon would have made a new battle plan with knowledge of the Vale army and would have fucked it up anyway and was counting on Ramsey getting cocky so the Vale could swoop in when his guard was down. This seems unlikely since I don't see how having Ramsey's dick in her gives her insight into Ramsey's battle strategy.
The other option is she called the Vale and didn't know if they would show up (still don't know why she wouldn't mention it though) so she just got so fucking lucky.

Yeah, they gave so much talk about how the people don't want to fight for Bolton, how they're ruled by fear, how they won't like that Ramesy refused single combat with Jon. I was definitely expecting some of the force (specifically the Karstarks because of the time that had been spent on them) to either break halfway through the battle with most of their troops, or Betray Bolton.
Also the Wun Wun bullshit ruined this episode for me. I knew I was in for some bad shit when Tormund looked over and Wun Wun was just standing there with no weapon like a retard. He has lost all of his intimidation ability for no reason because I guess giants are a common sight in the north these days. Men are unfased even when he rips a man in half in front of them with ease and and even after it has been mentioned that the men don't want to fight for Bolton. The line should have fucking broke, men don't stand and fight to the death like that. He also flails at a 3 man thick shield wall in the background for like 5 minutes even after demonstrating his ability to break through their line with ease within the first minute of the scene.
I could have bought the no weapon or armour thing if he was depicted properly. Throwback to when he fucking destroyed Wraiths in Hardhome with a literal fucking tree. Why didn't he pull the same shit this episode?
