Who /speedwatcher/ here? I tap Jump Forward (5s) every time I get bored with the scene or characters.

>scene with two characters
>already know the purpose of the scene
>skip it

>romance scene in non-romance show or movie
>skip it

>most fight scenes, even in shows lot GOT or Vikings
>skip it

>show gets lost up its own ass and spews philosophic dribble for a hour
>skip it

>another stupid fucking attempt at building suspense with a scene that drags out too long
>skip it

Ever since I started speed watching movies and shows, I've enjoyed them a lot more and finished watching things I would have normally dropped. Only problem is now when I watch shows with friends, I want to skip the boring shit.
>>
90% of the time i am watching something on my second monitor and only paying attention to half the show/movie. when i feel like its getting good, i will stop and pay full attention.
>>
Why do you bother watching anything anymore? If you skip most shit then you might miss things you didn't anticipate in an otherwise 'boring/predictable' scene.
I wouldn't be able to appreciate anything if I kept taking myself out of whatever I'm watching every minute.
>>
How do you think I survived so many seasons of TWD
>>
Watching at 1.33 speed is the real way to go
>>
>>71090692
If a scene surprises me with what I skipped into, I'll always go back and watch it. I've had some minor twists spoiled this way, but nothing that ruined the film or even the initial viewing experience.

I'm borderline autistic as fuck about experiencing things as the creators intended, but sometimes, you have to draw a line.
>>
>>71090876
I started watching films at 1.5 speed.
But then I started fearing that the reason I was enjoying the films was because I had artificially improved their otherwise labored pacing.
>>
>>71091033
I used that in VLC when i wanted to rewatch a good series and i just listen to it like Everybody Loves Raymond or Shaun of the Dead.

Watch films at 1.25 speed

I just want you to know I've reported everyone in this thread to the FBI for possession of child pornography. The innocent have nothing to fear, but I'm fucking positive they'll catch at least 40% of you with something worth serious jail time, and /tv/ will be improved as a result.

>"I'm borderline autistic as fuck about experiencing things as the creators intended, but sometimes, you have to draw a line."

I have to sit upright, have a completely dark room and watch the intermissions, even if it's over a black screen, and I'm not even close to autistic.

OP here.

This was part of my plan.
>>
Personally I agree. Lately I've been a bit busy so I generally just read the synopsis on Wikipedia. Works wonders. Sometimes I just read the title and consider the film "watched" that way. I can watch over 1,000 films a day this way. Very convenient.

>>
>>71095655
And actually as an experiment I've also just been testing a newer, even more efficient way of watching kino. I can wake up in the morning and say "I have watched 10,000 films today."

This method has been proven effective. I calculate I've watched about 16 billion films in the span of roughly 15 minutes. I just don't have the time to waste watching movies these days!
>>
I watch the movie on 5x speed while reading the plot summary on wiki. That's how i've watched every Kubrick, Fincher, Bay and Fellini movie.
>>
>it's a millennial thread
>>
why don't you just skip the episodes entirely and just read the synopses? talk about wasting time, moron.
>>
I just read movie reviews and then repeat the same points as my own when talking to family.
>>
Speed watching is inevitable after you've seen enough movies and shows. Definitely more of a veteran thing. Skipping stuff is easy, but skipping whole scenes and still getting the value out of a conversation or gesture or shot is only something you can do after you are very familiar with film as a story telling medium.

The only people that get triggered by the idea of speed watching would be the people that had to watch things as they aired, AKA, suffered through all the needless padding of commercials and air time, and had to wait weeks between plot developments.

Just an old, outdated way of consuming entertainment for grandpas.
>>
Thanks for the tip OP, but skipping romance or obviously pointless scenes seems like the best use.

>rushing through your films
how fucking stupid can you be?! why cant you savour the experience?!?!
The best thing about a film is sitting back and enjoying the experience. Ive gotten so addicted to this feeling I extend my movies by playing them at a slower rate. On some films I just dont want to end I print the frames one by one and watch enjoying my practically endless experience
>>
>>71090585

As you watch more films and more television, you'll start to easily recognize overused shit in otherwise good stories. Why sit through a completely boring and unoriginal romance subplot they forced into an unique and interesting story?

same reason I own a fucking television; to pass the time of my boring shitty life.
>>

I myself have watched thousands of films by taking a walk at night and observing the brief flickering light of a television screen in an apartment window,
I don't want to watch something cliche or predictable so if its just that BS "blue flickering light" trope, I walk faster to skip past the dullness.
Honestly I get wanting to see things as the creator intended, but I'm not going to waste my life walking into buildings and sitting down to watch films.

Can't believe how many mouthbreather cumguzzling cockgobblers are on this board. If you don't enjoy something and start multitasking while it's running why even """watch""" it in the first place? You fucking people are retarded.

I give everything i watch my full attention, and if i don't like it i turn it off or whatever, but i don't start watching shit while doing other shit and waiting for something to grab my attention. You're all fucking faggots, fuck this shitty board, what a fucking joke

>As you watch more films and more television, you'll start to easily recognize overused shit in otherwise good stories. Why sit through a completely boring and unoriginal romance subplot they forced into an unique and interesting story?

Lets just assume that you are serious for the sake of argument.

The correct way to deal with the inane offerings of modern day television and "film" is to disregard them and instead use your time doing something actually worthwhile. There is a reason ive given up with 90% of the shows ive tried over the last few years, after 2-3 episodes you can already clearly see the tone and direction and decide if its worth your time or not. When it comes to movies i dont really see your point since 95% of the time you can just glance at the director/production team and come to a definitive conclusion.

Even though i have 5000€ home theater setup i read almost as many books as i watch movies. And most of the movies i watch are from 80's or earlier.

If you still have working brain cells you can only handle so much murrican forcefeed entertainment before you hit the limit.
>>
>>71097090
OP here. I did read them. And I actually watched the fights in GOT until Dorne, then I was kind of done with them.

The last episode was a perfect example of why I skip fights now. A lot of CG horses really isn't that impressive, and nothing in the fight was particularly note worthy since most everyone came out fine anyway.

The brief part with jon being trampled was a genuinely good shot though that felt very claustrophobic and touched on a part of melee warfare most shows don't. Grade A in my book. Watched that part twice.

The other parts with generic guys cutting down other generic guys, Jon homerunning a dude off his horse, stupid fucking shield wall tension building, Ramsay's old as fuck little games he plays... Completely pointlessly, forgettable garbage. I'd rather watch well framed pillow shots with battle audio playing. Honest to god.
>>
>>71097197
I'm about half serious.

And I stand by my argument. There are a lot of shows, like you described, that are largely garbage. Shows that I would normally drop just a few episodes in before moving on.

Since I started speed watching, I've been able to watch those types of shows to completion and just enjoy them as one whole experience. I don't sweat the few scenes I skip because I know I would have forgotten them anyway.

You really appreciate it after seeing that one awesome moment that you never would have watched otherwise due to dropping the show.
>>
Sometimes when I read books I just the boring pages to get to the sex scenes or whatever.

When I'm listening to a song I usually just skip to the bridge because that's usually the best part.

When I'm eating food sometimes I'll just blend it and drink it because chewing takes too much time.
>>
>>71097618
>they made porn magazines for these people

>they made whole genres of music for these people

>they made restaurant chains that serve smoothies for these people

Yet those of us that like watching television and films never got an option to watch them without forced romance subplots or shitty action sequences.

I myself have never tried speed watching, or skipping, but after reading this thread, and these posts
>>71097430
>>71096151
Im going to try it. I already multi-task on my dual mons or phone while watching some movies anyway.

I have NOT seen "a lot" of movies and shows, not as much as I'd like to in my lifetime, but ultimately, I've seen enough to grow familiar with the formulas, common tropes, and grow to be less surprised.
It's draining to watch stuff, even GOOD stuff, be done and realize, "sigh, there's still more" more stuff to watch. More garbage to go through before discovering your next fill.

Over the past years I've started/bookmarked/downloaded so many shows, movies, cartoons and NEVER got around to finishing them. It gets boring, and it gets tough, because at this adult age, you always have a sense that you're wasting your time, and need to move on to something else.

There have only been a few shows I haven't dropped and seen all the way through, like Fargo, but that was only 2 seasons.
>>
>>71090585
Depends on a movie. Good movies I never rewind even if the pacing is slow, it's not an issue to me. One exception is scenes that make me cringe.
