This movie had one fatal flaw, the terminators were not threatening AT ALL and killed exactly no one. Besides that explosion in the literal beginning of the movie who dies? The Terminators can't kill anyone despite there being dozens of them in the film. Literal unstoppable killing machines that usually take a whole cast of a film dying before the last one or two surviving people can kill it. And instead we get maybe one death from a whole world of these faggots. That is why this movie is shit, not that the whole thing isn't in darkness on top of skulls, but because there are no stakes to this movie.

Do you even hear yourself? Regardless, there's nothing wrong with moments of levity in a serious movie. It doesn't impact the weight of the story. In fact it's generally seen as a good thing to give your audience those chances to catch their breath in an otherwise tense film.
And to be fair Arnold isn't exactly someone you take super serious in the first place. I've seen multiple films of his at the cinema in which at least one person laughed literally every time he spoke. Just speaking normal dialogue, someone in the audience would find it funny because it's Arnold. Not the same person either, you could tell it was always coming from a different place. A couple times it came from me. Arnold just has a way of being unintentionally humorous.

That is likely a HUGE reason why the movie was poorly received.
The only cool part of the movie, the twist that is revealed 3/4 through the movie, was spoiled and presented in the trailers as a main plot point rather than something that is supposed to surprise us and illicit emotions out of us.
