What is your favorite film from 60s?
>>71088750
bad taste to be honest familia
>>71088787
why do you say that?
>>71088787
Kill yourself
>>71088835
cause it's garbage, not even joking
>>71088743
Sheet monica
Probably the Graduate, just because of the ending. Or Midnight Cowboy. Sorry it isn't something more arthouse
>>71089924
oh, good explanation
I love this movie more than I love myself.
>>71088713
to me it's hard to like that one as much as A Woman is a Woman, Contempt, or Band of Outsiders
>>71088724
the 60s were the last era for truly epic filmmaking
>>71088743
I'd love to see this movie remade with Eddie Murphy being himself replacing Sidney Poitier
>>71090885
Nice choice.
>>71091020
thanks - no matter how many times I see it I'm always completely transfixed by it.
as much as I love Woman in the Dunes, Viridiana, Au Hasard Balthasar, and Belle de Jour, Persona's always my no. 1 for that decade.
>>71088743

>Woman in the Dunes, Viridiana, Au Hasard Balthasar, and Belle de Jour
Haven't seen, Haven't seen, thought it was okay, thought it was okay.
What would you guess about me?
>>71091463
Wait, I have seen Viridiana. I didn't like it.
>>71091566
That can't really be you're favorite. Jack Nicholson was great, the scene near the end where they're tripping out is great, and the soundtrack is great. The rest is mediocre.
films from godard and antonioni

it reflects 60s couterculture vs traditional values better than any other movie
Of all time? Can't choose. Something stupid like Lady in a Cage or Eye of the Devil probably.
Of seen recently? Barefoot in the Park and pic related were good.
>>71090885
Nahhh senpai heres the remake cast
>>71091997

Did we ever find out what was so great about the souffle?

Scheduling this entire thread for late-term abortion.
>>71092593
It was the greatest example of french new wave, that changed the world of cinema. If you compare it to later film you won't see how it is exceptional. If you compare it to earlier film you will see that.
>>71092699
Yeah but how was the souffle?
>>71092535
Thanks for pointing that out.
>all time favorite film from the 60s
>favorite 60s film from recently watched list
>>71088713
I don't watch films made before 1990, they're too slow and boring.
>>71092714
The tragedy of the film is that they never got to eat it.
>>71092741
Of course all time. Who even cares about something "favorite" from like last 2 weeks? Especially if we're talking about fucking 1960s.
Red Desert is one of my absolute favorites.
I really enjoy the feel of 60's and 70's films. For the 70's my favourite would be the wicker man
>>71092066
here's the thing: I want someone who doesn't resemble Poitier. imagine Jim Carrey taking the lead in Paths of Glory - like that - I want to see how much it would (or wouldn't) stand up
>>71092747
if you don't got it, flaunt it - I guess?

I like your picks, I'll check out the ones I haven't seen. Contempt sounds intriguing; I don't know what to expect from Fritz Lang's acting.

dude I just discovered the sight and sound poll lmao

>>71094909
>>71095093
Yes both S&S and Criterion originally influenced what I was watching, but then I expanded it and saw many many other films by Fellini, Godard, Antonioni and others anyway. I still think those are the greatest. Also I almost covered the films already mentioned ITT just separately, so what's the problem.
>>71095228
>originally
lol
you mean still

>>71095269
I'm pretty sure I saw the entire top 50 S&S 2012, and all the other films covered in top 50 from S&S polls of 2002, 1992, 1982 and 1972. Earlier polls have some obscure old stuff I did not watch. And apart from that I of course saw many other films. When you saw so many of them it becomes clear how, for instance, 8½ is exceptionally great.
>>71095559
yeah dude people talking multiple languages at once it's so innovative haha
>>71095559
woah, top 50. you're insane dude. s real cinemaniac.
>>71095600
I could just pick Fellini and watch his entire filmography, then pick Welles and do the same, then Bergman etc. Or I could start with S&S to get into, then expand. The final result is the same set of films.
>>71095798
did you know there exists more directors than just what's on the sight and sound poll
>>71095798
What are your favorite directors?
>>71095824
I saw many, including those who are not on S&S. Name me a director I'll tell you if I saw him. It just happens so that what I would include in best films of 60s is apparently also appears in S&S of one year or another. You know S&S covers fucking a lot of movies.
>>71095845
Orson Welles

>>71096187
I'm afraid I've only seen Rita, Sue and Bob Too. I liked it, not that I loved very much. I'd rate it 7/10. I might go back to see something else by this director in the future.
>>71093231
this is ok, i feel it was a bit too forceful on the symbolism added to it in the art piece and so on. also the title is confusing in english
>>71093754
Yikes
>>71093916
Fucking this
Finian's Rainbow
I'm not even sorry.
Persona
There's just something about this film that I can't get enough of.
