Gunbuster isn't great at all. Millennium Actress, Dennou Coil, Tatami Galaxy, Kaguya, Ghost in the Shell SAC, Haibane Renmei.
Best ending to the best show. Caps off the series while staying true to what it always was: cool style, god-tier animation, interesting characters, no pretentiousness, and a cool guy protagonist with nothing to live for. Spike resolves his straightforward revenge story, gets the death he's been longing for all along, and looks insanely over the top badass doing it.
The prior farewell episodes leading up to it just add context that make the finale even better. Fucking perfect. It will never be matched.

Cowboy Bebop is non-entry level. Most anime fans have seen it already, which is kind of the indication it's non-entry level, but that's only because it's OLD.
Most people didn't get into anime from Cowboy Bebop. They usually got into it from Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, in North America.
