I mostly just got into it because they shoot these projects in my city and it's easy money. Can you stand there in a costume? Sure. The down side is the shifts are extremely long and as a non-speaking actor you are at the very bottom of the totem pole so if any of the crew or staff are having a bad day they'll take it out on you. You can make decent money if you do it regularly and the guys who actually pay the dues to join the union will make up to x4 to what I do. There are people who go all over following projects from city to city and try to make it a profession but I just do it for supplemental income.
