>Be able to commit crimes with a 100% guarantee of not getting caught
>Still get caught

Japanese """"""writers"""""" have to be the dumbest motherfuckers ever.
>>
>>71037418
Well I can agree that the concept seems pretty lame and was the reason I never picked it up. However Japanese have some really neat stories too. Kabaneri of the iron fortress is a great concept I think check that out.
>>
>>71037418
It's almost like you didn't read/watch the story.

Caught these on SBS when I was younger. Fun times honestly, I wonder if they hold up.
>>
Never saw the movie version of it.

The anime had a fucking asspull though. I assume this did as well?
>>
>>71037418

>Light is the same guy that played live action Kaiji
>>
>>71038025

What's the asspull in the anime? I got halfway through season 2 and couldn't stand it any more.
>>
>reminder that anime ended at episode 25
>>
I never watched the anime.

how exactly does he get caught? I know the core concept (hurr notebook he can write someone's name and they die). How can you get caught from that? Wouldn't you just keep it in your room, never tell anyone about it, and only use it when the door's locked and window's closed?

Or does someone find it and that sets off some chain of events that leads to him getting caught?
>>
>>71039023

Some faggot superdetective baited him into writing down someone's name who was doing a 'nation wide broadcast' across Japan, but it was actually only broadcasting in that one city.

Then they narrowed it down more by checking the times of deaths and figuring out they were done on a schedule that a school kid would keep (More on weekends, school holidays, etc). I forget other things they did, but you get the idea.
>>
>>71038886
>not episode 16
>>71039023
Literally watch the first two episodes
>>
>>71039023
Everyone who has posted thus far is lacking in basic comprehension. The main character specifically says he's going to kill his victims in the same way so the public knows someone is judging them. He's got a god complex and that is how the authorities catch him.

Also, fuck you for making me reply. You post this shit every day.
>>
>>71039023

The show implies that having that kinda' power would generate an insane arrogance. Especially when you're like the main protagonist who pictures himself a god of the new world, free of crime and violence.

When you're that high on yourself you interpret everyone's challenge as something you have to quench personally. And that's the arrogance that leads him to failure.

The show's still incredible, and even the movies are well-worth watching. The entire premise is essentially "how do you catch someone who cannot be caught"?
>>
>>71037418
Are the live action movies any good? I mean, watchable atleast
>>
>>71039329

Very much so. The anime and the show end very differently though, so if you like one and want to see an "alternative timeline" you shouldn't be afraid to watch the other.
>>
>>71039380
>*the anime and the movie

It's really early where I live.
>>
>>71039156
Really, the only reason Light got caught was because he had a ridiculous god complex and made some pretty dumb moves.

Aside from the nation-wide broadcast bluff, what comes to mind....

>As soon as the police realize Kira's basically killing on a student's schedule, he immediately shows them he can kill at any time....which means they know he's probably related to a police officer.
>When the police have people investigating police relatives, Light has the guy who's keeping an eye on him killed, literally about an hour right before he was about to report Light wasn't suspicious at all.

Honestly, I think killing Ray Penbar was his biggest goof since it pointed L right to him, and he needed to make some desperation plays to not get caught right then.
>>
>>71039607

The plays following Ray's death were clever though.

Where clever started turning stale was when he handed the note to that corporation.

Where stale turned to retarded was when the show continued after L died.
>>
>>71039789
I think it might have been because the anime couldnt get his thought process, but I was kinda annoyed how Near in the second half just started pulling all these assumptions out of his ass that always ended up being 100% correct out of fucking nowhere,.
>>
>>71039320
But it's okay. Idiots will ignore Lights character flaw and just say it's bad writing for him to keep being baited.
>>
>>71039836

Agree. To me the dumbest shit was the killing blow.

I don't remember exactly how it went, but N found out where Light hid the notebook and copied it so that when he tried to use it on them he failed.

And all this was just """assumptions""".

Honestly the movies did a lot more justice to the death of Light than N ever did.

I always wished that the Ray thing was what came back to get him in the end. It felt like his first genuinely evil kill. Like maybe Ray's fiancee survived somehow, since she was so close to identifying Light. One of the note rules was that a person couldn't die in a situation that was impossible, so I hoped they'd pull a twist where suicide would be so out of her character that the note failed to kill her. Sadly, that whole thing went nowhere.
>>
>>71037950
>Japanese have some really neat stories
more like NEET stories xD

Someone notice me please. Even if it's absolute hate I'd just like to be recognised by someone, anyone.
>>
>>71040631

That would have been a neat twist and would have added more credibility to N's pointless shit.

If I remember right Light specified that she was to kill herself and make it look as close to a natural suicide as possible.

The point was that if he'd phrased that in a specific way they could have pulled a really cool plot-twist out of it.

>>71041589

The girl dies in 2 episodes.

L dies at the end of the first "season" (I don't know if you can call it that). After that the show stops being worth watching, but if you ever go back to it, try to get at least TO that point.

The way L dies and how Light handles it is really worth watching.

Think of L as Mulder and Scully's forces combined into one autistic genius shut in.

Don't be mean, Anon. I ment it.
>>
>>71041472
It's been like 10 years since I read the manga and it was a fan translation but I believe he'd phrased it something like she'd commit suicide in a way that her body wouldn't be found for a long time. So it would have made sense, she disappears, he thinks he succeeded, she's just lying low and waiting for her moment. All the women in Death Note were shitty though, so par for the course.
>>
>>71042057

Yeah but looking back at it, I don't know how they could have phrased it in such a way that made Light come of as intelligent AND a way that would leave her some room to wiggle out of it.

It'd be a tricky line because it'd have to come across as something that'd be "clever enough" to sound as if Light had really thought it out, while also being vague enough for her to find a loophole through it.

And I can honestly not think of any such phrasing.

Awful bait.

No matter what you think of Death Note, Kabaneri is literally just zombies and trains; it doesn't really get more creatively bankrupt than doing a 'zombies and [ insert something here ]'.

>Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number.
>Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
>But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression.
>After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with.
>In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
>Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves.
>While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
