Is Disney paying critics? I'm not necessarily saying "Make a good review or you're fired" but are they having their subsidiaries like ABC only publish positive reviews for Disney movies, and negative reviews for the competition?
I honestly can't wrap my head around any other explanation. How else could Disney be the only ones getting good reviews?

It was bound to happen eventually

Once media became consolidated one company would get rich enough to buy off anyone

This is what i call the "The Scientist Who Wants Fame From His Personal Work"

The journalist probably don't get paid too much, but they are bought with the idea that if they review the thing well enough, they would get more known or better fame

So to do this he has to something that the filmmakers will like so he gets a better position next time

This gives to some herd mentality indeed

Let's ask Armond.
Basically Disney indoctrinated a generation of manchildren and the company has them by the balls.

>>
>>71033971
No. They've just got all this nailed down to a formula.
And besides, they've already done two movies this year that were critical flops.
>>
>>71033971
It's not direct bribery so much as implied compensation.

For example, Disney will not only invite critics to an exclusive prescreening, but will give every attendee bags of goodies, free drinks and an afterparty with more food and drink.
If you give a bad review, you won't get invited to the next one.

They don't literally deposit money into your account every time you write a good review of one of their films, it's more of a mutual back-scratching arrangement.
It's for this reason that studios and distributors should be forbidden from hosting media screenings.

I am a paid critic. No reason to lie.

>>71037355
Yes, it did. It was two days before the main release.
I was also invited but did not attend (I was overseas) to the Civil War event.

At the TFA one there were little black showbags filled with snacks, vouchers, a drink bottle and a charity bracelet thing for some charity I don't remember.
There was free beer and wine before the showing, and an afterparty in the foyer of the theatre where there was more beer and wine and some hors d'oeuvres.

Now, I'll grant you that they obviously don't literally blackmail you and say "write a good review or you're not coming to the next one" but it's fairly well implied that there's an obligation to be appreciative.

God, I hate this conversation. In all its forms.

The Force Awakens was good.
Not great, not genre defining, and not the best Star Wars movie, but it was competently made, was recognizably Star Wars, and had a story that moved at a brisk pace and was easy to follow. All of these facts become BLATANTLY apparent if you try to compare them to the prequel trilogy, and that was a conscious decision.

You don't have to like the movie, but if you say it's out-and-out bad, it betrays a clear lack of understanding and perspective on your part.

I hate the mindset of so many millennials that if a lot of people like something they don't like, there must be some conspiracy. This can't be reality. They must be manipulation going on behind closed doors.

I'm not saying all Millenials are like that, but a lot of them cannot let go of the 911/war in Irag era of mistrust that Millenials grew up in, and now they are applying it to everying, distrusting everything and thinking everything is crooked.

>The new characters in The Force Awakens are banal. John Boyega’s black superhero, Finn, updates and restyles Han Solo’s jockish heroism — a cultural evolution that evokes Obama (“I was taken from a family I’ll never know”) for global commercialism. Boyega is appealing-enough to surpass the series’ previous racial tokens, Billy Dee Williams and Samuel L. Jackson, but he is subordinate to the new gallantry of Daisy Ridley’s Rey, who embodies the female empowerment denied to Princess (now General) Leia. Rey “leans in” when she grips the Skywalker light saber, so that feminists can rejoice at the Disney Corporation’s calculated political correctness (although Rey’s competence with weaponry contradicts liberals’ convenient attitudes toward gun control.)

To a certain extent, they all are. But if you actually watch most of the well received Disney movies, they generally are good.

92% simply means that 92% of people who watched it liked it, and that's totally acceptable as this movie wasn't shit nor are most of the Marvel movies. They may not be great, but that's besides the point.

I fucking hate Disney and I hate capeshit but you have to give them credit. They make so much money with their films that they have gathered the resources to get the best talent behind their movies and it almost always works now.

Of COURSE you'd compare it to the prequels instead of the OT. It's a much easier comparison to make, because both movies are attempting to be continuations of the Star Wars brand. Both attempts are much more aligned in intent than either of them are to the OT. Only an idiot would compare TFA to the OT. That's missing the point of TFA.

Problems with it:

>Movie felt way too short
>So many plotholes such as how the Empire were able to build a massive Death Star carved into a planet in only 30 years when all the Empire were defeated
>Movie should have begun when Kylo was dropped off at Luke's Jedi Academy: as we get to know him more and why he joined the dark side
But of course due to JJ wanting to make an absolute copy of A New Hope: we had to begin the movie with Kylo in the mask and Stormtroopers massacring an area just like A New Hope begins
>Han Solo should not have died
>JJ should have gone with the original script idea where Luke is met earlier in the film and Rey and Luke go on adventures together as they track down ancient artifacts - this then would have let Luke come face to face with Han and eventually Leia and all 3 of the original team would have been reunited
>Rey is a Mary Sue: absolutely makes no sense with how she knows everything about the force; is able to do Jedi mind tricks without anyone teaching her... if JJ filmed a scene with her reading a book about the Jedi myths or about Han explaining to her about the force then it would have all made sense - only way for it to now make sense is if Rey is a reincarnation of Anakin which explains why all powers come easy to her
>Luke would never abandon all his friends and become a hermit (again JJ is doing this just so Episode 8 is exactly like ESB with Rey going to be trained with a Yoda like wise Jedi).
>Why the fuck does Rey need to be trained? She is a Mary Sue who knows everything? She almost beat a Sith Lord (who cares if he was injured).

I'm sorry, but I seriously hate TFA. I never liked the prequels but compared to this shitstain of a movie they fucking shine like a new dime. The plot was fucking retarded. It looks like they just had to cram as many liberal things as they could. I have nothing against black characters or female characters but seriously come the fuck on, you don't have to suck feminist cock just to fit in.

seriously? It looks like they just took the easiest way to grab our money. I understand why prequels are hated, but at the very least they tried to bite the topic from other perspective. TFA just looks like they ctrl+c ctrl+v new hope with new versions of old characters and events and you just can't defend this.

You may like this movie, but don't try to make me feel dumb just because I don't

>suppose to be the guy who murdered all the remaining jedi
>loses to a girl who just discovered about the jedi about a week ago
>acts like a child (throwing stuff around for comic relief and crying like a faggot) just to play the greatest enemy of peace this world's ever fucking seen
>he looks like he's 16 and posing no threat to anybody

A Ton of exposition and back story they haven't revealed about these characters judging their ability's based on what we see in this film alone is stupid.

Kylo Ren was severly wounded in that fight and on top of that, Ren is heavily suspected of being a mind-wiped Trained force user.

happy?

More like One movie that's part 1 of a trilogy bro. You do know two more movies are coming out? Do you expect a T.V show to explain and reveal everything in a couple of episodes instead of the Season as a whole?

They basically own the media, they don't have to buy them, they already own them.

>It's not a TV series
>A movie should be able to stand on its own
>Considering the writing in TFA, the explanation is going to be retarded anyways

>minding film "critics" on a shitty website
kill yourself.

>>71046598
>give us your money so the plot can actually make sense in the next movie
>what's that? you want each movie to be its own self contained story instead of a two hour preview for the next movie that we are already making and we know will make even more money than this one?
>go fuck yourself
>>
>disney is paying critics...

why do you even care?
and even if you care don`t you know that everything is controled by companies?

the best stuff you can do is live along and enjoy this shit.
