I feel nothing unexpected happened. Rickon killed, Wun Wun died, Littlefinger helped them win.
Battle was good though. Almost Hardhome tier. The scene where Jon was struggling to get out of from under the pile of bodies and catch some breath was really well done. I found myself thinking how shitty of a death that would be just buried under the dead.
Overall a pretty solid episode, even though it was extremely predictable.
