There’s a severe lack of films with female protagonists. It’s a simple and upsetting fact that needs to be changed. Recently, Disney and LucasFilm have been taking massive steps with “The Force Awakens” showcasing the talents of lead actress Daisy Ridley and “Rogue One” set to star Felicity Jones. And it seems like another group of filmmakers have joined the charge.

Toni-Marie Gallardo and Andrea Lee Christensen of YouTube channel Supertramp Co. launched a new web series called “Full Movie Here,” which takes famous movies starring men and places women in the leading roles. But that’s not all. Each entry will not only change the gender of the protagonist, but will also wipe the slate clean, changing the story, characters and genre as well — partly because the writers haven’t seen them.

Rather than taking a jab at the films they’re basing the episodes off of, “Full Movie Here” plans to, per their Indiegogo page in efforts to fund future episodes, “create a platform where we can put women at the forefront in interesting and unexpected ways.” For their first episode, the two made “There Will Be Blood,” a film about a vampire that finds out the party she’s at is BYOB — bring your own blood — and not a spread of necks. Gallardo served as the director and Christensen served as the writer on “Full Movie Here’s” comedic take on the Paul Thomas Anderson film. Check out the episode below.

For their next entries, FMH plans to put out “The Wolf of Wall Street” as “a campy horror film about a sexually frustrated werewolf” and “Finding Nemo” as a film “about the struggles of growing up in a Kardashian-like family.”

There are plenty of movies with women as the protagonist

It's just they're all romance/musical movies because those are the only genres women love
>>
Don't these people have jobs and shit?

How can they afford to live?
>>
>We're gonna take someones work and shit all over it.

So they're just making shitty movies that they hope will get publicity and coverage based on a stupid stunt?

'There Will be Blood' could actually be a much better title for a story about a teenage girl coming of age. I'm not irritated that these retards are worse at coming up with ideas for stupid remakes of great movies than I am, and I hate the concept to the core.
>>

>Rather than taking a jab at the films they’re basing the episodes off o

So in other words it has nothing to do with the original movie not even as a spoof, other than the title.

>“The Wolf of Wall Street” as “a campy horror film about a sexually frustrated werewolf” and “Finding Nemo” as a film “about the struggles of growing up in a Kardashian-like family.”

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/disney-acquires-rights-to-female-indiana-jones-graphic-novel-series-a7057766.html

Studio giants Disney has turned its attention to a graphic novel series led by a character described as a 'female Indiana Jones.'

The source material - named Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant - follows the titular protagonist as she treads the globe performing high-octane actions such as battling pirates and traveling around on her flying boat.

Deadline reports that the first book in the series will be adapted into a 19th century-set live action film beginning with a prison escape in Turkey.

The film will introduce Delilah's 'mild-mannered' sidekick, Selim as well as Delilah herself who is a swashbuckling sword expert trained in 27 differing techniques; we're sure Disney will tone down the violence for a family-friendly audience.

Pushing the media influence could be interesting. Like her absent parents lead her to only see the world as corporate America has framed it. And it shouldn't be super scathing, it could be presented as admittedly more comfortable since you don't have to think too much or try hard and still have a decent, expected life.

But there could be some sudden awakening to the word being otherwise. Where it goes from there, I dunno, but I always like the Tragedy of Relapse probably because its so plausible and, by painting such a bleak yet truthful portrait of human nature, almost seems destined to happen.

Kind of like the very ending of End of Evangelion where it butters you up and then at the very last moment pulls the rug under you, prompting you to think "oh, right. that's how it would go."

As someone who is a feminist and has read a good amount of feminist philosophy / gender theory- this is fucking stupid and does absolutely nothing to advance the cause of feminism or undermine patriarchal power structures. How does the protagonist's lived experience as a woman inform the narrative? What statement is the film making about gender roles, objectification of the female body, or any other significant topic in feminist discourse?

>Each entry will not only change the gender of the protagonist, but will also wipe the slate clean, changing the story, characters and genre as well — partly because the writers haven’t seen them

Avoiding a film like "There Will Be Blood" is borderline unforgivable if you are interested in film. It's the best thing hollywood's made in like 20 years IMO. This is just embarassing- please don't let this type of bullshit sway your notions about feminism or turn you into a misogynist. Fuck this bullshit. It's not what feminism should be about.

>>
>>70992804

>I state that I am a feminist
>Everyone assumes my post is bait

Regarding your comment about "radical regressive socialists"- historically, feminist thought has always been influenced by Marxist thought. Within Marx's materialist conception of history, class struggle can be traced to the nuclear family- with the husband as the oppressing class and the wife as the oppressed class. Engels, who co-developed Marxism with Marx, wrote "The Origin of the Family..." which is an important work of first wave feminism. I don't think "serious feminists" would be upset by a socialist bent in feminism because it has always been an important part of feminism.

Obviously the people making these videos are virtually a non-entity but stuff like this is commonplace now and cumulatively it tarnishes the reputation of feminism in the public eye. It does more harm than good, in my opinion.

The majority of the modern film industry is more pleb than their audiences. Unless they are in a technical role I would guess that a lot of them haven't seen stuff like There Will Be Blood. The latest Marvel film however is another fucking story. This is part of the reason movies are the way they are now.
>>

Jesus, what is wrong with these people? Why even pretend there's a connection to the other films if you're not going to make it even slightly similar? All this does is make the film suffer by comparison and imply that when women are calling the shots, you get something derivative and inferior.

Hey women, here's a crazy idea: Since you just demonstrated that you can get films made, why not make some great films that contribute to the history of cinema to demonstrate what women can accomplish? Or y'know, you could just make some insignificant garbage as a thinly veiled whinge about how women deserve more acclaim simply for being women rather than earning it.

making a female TWBB would be kinda interesting if they actually got it right (what if a ruthless, borderline sociopathic woman tried to make it into the oil business back then). but if they want to make a shitty vampire flick, then make a fucking vampire flick and drop this false pretend-agenda

compare to the refined male humor in my attached image and realize woman's place in the animal kingdom, not just below men,
but below dogs, koala bears, pigmy moths, and black people

So they are using the movie's name to get clicks but it has nothing to do with the movie aside from the fact that they feel, despite not having seen it, that it should be recast with females.

The bar is set real low for females, isn't it?

So it's going to be the feminist version of those shitty straight to video made-in-the-Philippines ripoff sequels to Vietnam movies that the Italians produced in the '80s, except shittier?

I don't get what's going through these cunt's heads? Instead of setting up some kind of feminist film movement which could actually produce some interesting movies if it wasn't heavily centered on "cis", sjw, "pc", propaganda but instead on producing movies which deals with women's themes e.i. something similar to mumblecore and work of Eleonore Hendricks such as The Pleasure of Being Robbed, basically creating movies similar to James White but with women cast and a script that actually fits.

I don't see how just violently setting women into places which weren't intended for them helps anything? I really don't understand this. Why create something when you are not creative? Why just copy work of others, yes I'm talking about you crew of Ghostbusters, instead of creating something new which indisputably would have a greater merit?

This is a fucking retarded world we live in and I just can't fucking comprehend this.

>is the joke that There Will Be Blood actually speaks very heavily to the strengths and weaknesses of masculinity as a viable source of identity but they're too stupid to realize it?

Same as the joke that Lawrence of Arabia is an extended critique of the idea of white saviors, but you only get that if you listen to what the non-white characters in the movie say?

Yep, I think so.

I know. I thought the point of gender equality is that women can do what men can do, and movies focusing mostly on men is ruining that idea. This sounds like something that is supposed to uphold that idea by showing gender swapped movies can be done, but apparently you have to change the entire story?

listen up shitlords it's time for women to take the stage. Here is my pitch for a great movie that only WOMEN WILL UNDERSTAND. Master and Commander, a road trip movie about a clueless sexless husband who refuses to listen to his wife's superior navigational skills. All while the wife is secretly crushin on the said husband's brother who is total bae material.

>He’s like a benign Gaspar Noé. I think he cares about cinema, he’s just a small fry. He wants to be Altman and he wants to be Alan Rudolph, and I know why: those are good examples. He’s just not there. I don’t think he’s got an original bone in his body. It’s kind of unfortunate, because I think he cares about making movies.
