People always say this, but it's a shit argument. You don't come out of Blink expecting every episode to be like Blink. By the end of the episode it becomes very obvious that the show is actually about the Doctor, and that in other episodes you will get to see him going on the kind of adventures they hint at in his scenes. Blink is highly effective for new viewers because they learn about the premise of the series at the same rate as Sally Sparrow, they get an intriguing teaser of what the series is generally like as well as a gripping demonstration of what it's capable of at its best.
