https://youtu.be/u_AIV9c0FWcPlot twist: the crocodile's name is Lake Placid
Alligator (1980).
Absolute crokino.
The best croc movie I've ever seen, doesn't play like a slasher movie but with an animal like most other movies seem to do. It's a lot closer to Jaws if anything, but has a neato subplot to do with the abos that own the land with the killer croc on it.
Don't know if you'll find it online easily or not though, I watched it on a streaming service they've got here in Aus.

why did this genre ended up so badly
when are we getting something that takes itself seriously and doesn't end up being this low budget laughable stuff (sometimes)

forgot CONGO
Shakma
>>70867091
It happened to all of horror, which is only recently making a comeback. I guess a revival is less likely for killer animal movies specifically since it takes either trained animals or practical effects to not look like utter shit.
>>70867091
The Shallows looks really promising. It'll be cool to new a new high budget shark movie.

Had a hell of a premise but the movie wasn't very good in my opinion.
It's a bit old and obscure but I caught this the other night and it's really good guys :)Seriously though it's still the king of this subgenre

Black Water
A group of people becomes stranded when a crocodile corners them. One of very few creature feature films that is 100% plausible. I found it to be absolutely chilling, but it's probably not everyone's cup of tea because the cast is very small (3 people).
Rogue
Same premise, but bigger cast and less realistic.

Justice was done that day.

There was an animated movie about rats. The Secret of something or other.
>>70869528how she stranded on the rock, how the other surfers die, that she wont swim to the island and that in the end she fights the shark on the buoy
not that it´s not obvious, but would be more exciting if you didnt know these things before

it's beyond the subgenre though, it's one of the best sea adventure movies ever.
Can animals be evil? Is that not an inherently human thing?
