Oh, I agree. Weighing in on who the Bond girl should be is more about damage control if she is forced on us (likely to happen) by at least having some input on who they choose. Otherwise our "Bond Girl" will be Niggermione from the Harry Potter play or something equally horrendous.
Obviously a female Bond will not embody the traits of a male Bond. For example, Bond was a sauve man who could be pretty much any woman, despite women having almost exclusive control of sexual currency. A female doesn't impress when she convinces a man to have sex. Women do that to get their way all the time. Plus, a woman can't inconspicuously walk into a facility like they are supposed to be there like a male bond can simply because they will be so noticeable.
I'd prefer a female bond of a nigger one. At least the female version wouldnt be called James Bond anymore. A black James Bond would be an insult to the original novel.

Thing is Bond is oddly placed in the modern spy film genre.
I mean there are serious spy films that try and focus on more realism (with a few stunts here and there) and then there are spy parodies that really play off the Bond tropes. And then there's Bond.
When they rebooted, they started off well with Casino Royale and QoS (even if it is unpopular it kept with being more serious) and then in Skyfall and finally Spectre they went all out with just self parody again.
Is Bond anything more than just nostalgia and parodying itself these days?
I thought the whole point of the reboot was to redefine it again for a modern era.
A female Bond was just take it down the typical girl power route and not accomplish anything either.
I know it's a cherished British franchise, but as a Brit, I think it's done.
