The concept was nothing new but the show was still distinct from Dexter's Lab. If you watch it, it's not even remotely similar besides the "Boy Genius" thing, which Dexter doesn't own.

Yeah, even when I got into the show, I still didn't like the movie for the same reasons. Still hate Despicable Me for various recycled ideas as well (clear Dexter/Mandark analogue, the three orphans being Alvin and the Chipmunks minus the fuzz, singing, and cocks, yellow raving rabbids without ears).
