It's actually normal. Prey - in example bunnies - have sex non stop to breed as many new bunnies as possible, so that they can survive, since they are expected to be picked off constantly by the predators (like foxes).

I really enjoyed the film. Absolutely stunning from a technical standpoint and a fantastically written main cast.
