who /v/ here?
Check out my singles
the book is so much more gruesome than the movie, which is ok- they couldn't have made the book. they just couldn't. it's would have been more graphic and violent than hostel or a serbian film.
the part with the rat? shit, man, that was unsettling.
the movie was good though. i liked how they kept how he constantly slipped confessions in left and right and nobody cared enough to listen
>Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Okay, but in the movie he's not hardcore into it. the clue is in the name; its about his psychotic nature. It's about how shallow the business world is; nobody actually fucking knows who anyone is. It's about how this shallowness allows him to get away with literal fucking murder.

That would be the most superficial interpretation. It's much more than that. It's a critique of capitalism, materialism and assimilation in all corners of society. How we are slowly hollowed out and are just perceived as the sum of our money, what we own and other symbols of identity (those cards for example, or the CD collection) rather than who we really are. Everything that we do, what we think and what we say is meaningless. It doesn't matter any longer what our actions really mean, what matters is how they translate into those symbols.

i can understand why someone would think he didn't actually kill anyone, considering how 1) he never gets caught, b) he confesses and his lawyer doesn't believe him, and said he saw had lunch with paul allen
but those can be explained by the fact that nobody is expecting him to be a psychopath, and that nobody remembers anyone's name, the lawyer probably just THOUGHT he had lunch with paul allen the same way paul allen thought patrick was marcus halberstam
I also think the book chapter with the taxi driver at the end leads you to believe he actually did it, as the cab driver recognizes him as the guy who killed his friend from the wanted posters

In Less than Zero, it's kind of in the same vein as AP- still shocking and depressing, but in a less graphic way.
Rules of Attraction is nothing like the other ones as far as violence the whole "there is no hope" theme, but is really good because there's a lot of unreliable narrator stuff going on between the characters telling different versions of the same story.
What I thought was interesting is that Less than Zero's narrator is named Clay, and he goes back to Camden College at the end of the book. Rules of Attraction is set in Camden College, and not only has a POV chapter by Clay where he mentions several characters from LtZ, one of the 3 man characters in the book and the major POV is by Sean Bateman. Sean hangs out with Patrick in both books, and Rules of Attraction even has a Patrick Bateman POV chapter where Evelyn appears and Patrick rips on his brother

Yeah, Less than Zero is excellent, and NOTHING like the movie. Rules of Attraction is still pretty good, but there's a lot of college sex drama, including several chapters from a gay POV character.
They're also much shorter than AP, and shouldn't take you that much time to get through.

Greetings. My name is Patrick Batemanâ„¢, and I have contacted you for important matters.
I have taken notice to your post. It is of high qualityâ„¢, but it's not the contents of the post that I'm interested by, it's the post-number.
Your post-number is unlike any other that I've ever seen. It is unique, as no other will ever obtain your distinct strand of numbers, but that is not the only unique thing about it.
Look at the numbers at the very end. Take a close look at them, and you might even realize it, too. Your post-number has ended in repeating digits, that is why I am contacting you.
I don't want to seem like a bother, as I understand that you're very busy crafting hundreds of qualityâ„¢ posts such as the one I am replying to, but this is a matter more important than posts. It's a matter of life and death.
Here on /b/, it is the most important rule of all that repeating digits much be checked and kek'd, that is why I am contacting you. I am here to check and kek your repeating digits, for it is a matter of religious importance.
So, after all this patience and discussion, I will now check your repeating digits. Here I go: #Checked
Now that your repeating digits have been checked by me, it is now time for me to leave. I cannot spend all day checking your repeating digits, no matter how much I love them. The reason? More digits must be checked.
