I use private trackers and FTP everything I want to watch immediately after it finishes, which usually takes a minute or so.

As it downloads from the FTP I watch it so it's kind of like streaming it in perfect quality.

I don't download as much stuff as I used to (I used to fill up 1tb hard drives almost every month), I only download some shows and movies I want to watch now and watch them there and then and just delete them afterwards.

>>better than your shitty video rental store that is still around because plebs feel sorry for it despite being a dead business.

While there is something to be said for having anything and everything available for free for a few clicks and some time, the younger generation of today with 24-hour streaming of anything really has missed out on one of the best experiences of a movie/tv fan:

>finding a tape on a shelf with only a picture and maybe a brief blurb on the back to guide your video choices.

This was part of the satisfying experience of watching something and finding a gem, or a really fun horrible movie, or the experience of watching a utter shit movie "because I already paid for the damn thing!"

This allowed a real sense of investment and enjoyment when it came to movies and tv shows, and the excitement of having to wait for something to become available.

Today's near-instantaneous availability of media simply serves to dull the overall experience and enjoyment.

That said, I'm not giving up my Kodi box and Specto add-on any time soon. But I do miss those days.

I'm 28 and I agree. I don't really enjoy going to video stores. It was fun as a child when you didn't know about better and your local video store was where all the cool stuff came from but technology has made it so that media is piss easy to get without leaving your house and offers the same end result on your screen.

I do almost all of my media consumption on private trackers, and the rest when I pay to enter a movie theater.

Rutracker is very good as a public tracker, much wider selection of films than most

but when it comes to long term seeder activity, quality of rips, and having a bigger selection still, it doesn't really compete with private trackers. Again, for most users with fairly limited taste, or that watch on a small screen/don't care too much about quality, this is fine and private trackers aren't really worth the bother.
>>
>>70714810
>Again, for most users with fairly limited taste, or that watch on a small screen/don't care too much about quality, this is fine and private trackers aren't really worth the bother.

>>
>>70714933
ok, if not being into egyptian cinema of the 40es is having a limited taste, yes, I do have a limited taste
>>
>>70714787

I asked in their channel a few years back and got an invite after proving I knew something about film. I don't know if they still interview but it's worth asking in their channel I guess.

I got invited to tik too in the same way.

Also if you become a power user on what.cd you can get onto most other private trackers very easily, other trackers recruit users through the forums.
>>
>>70714787
1) You interview at the trackers that offer that, and then you get into KG after that.

2) Lots of people seed from a laptop, but if you can't buy something with a dedicated power supply, you have bigger problems than not being on private trackers.

P.S. KG is just one of the trackers I'm on. I also started with zero experience.

To me the problem really is service and not the cost. I would be totally happy to pay 50$ or even more a month if I can watch everything I want at realease day, in the right quality (no stream) and with automation features for series.

Since there is no service up to the task I still have to use "illegal" services. I will never pay for a poor experience like Netflix. Too bad that the industry doesn't see this and still uses stupid and outdated distribution channels and a horrible legal contract mess.

I didn't see anything about not asking for invites but if you're not on any other private trackers they may be a little wary.
>>
>>70715072

Also if they won't give you an invite directly don't worry about it because you can just take what.cd's interview and get into their tracker then become a power user. Then get invited through the forums, it might take longer but you'll probably want to do that anyway because there's lots and lots of trackers that will recruit you in their forums.

It kinda depends, but quality should be as close to the source material as possible. With bluray untouched kinda sucks, because the format itself is shit. But I rip in 1080p with HQ Audio shouldn't be bellow 10GB usually around 15-17 is ok for a normal 90 minute movie. I have no real codec or container preferences, but it should be as FOSS as possible.

With streams the main problem is the horrible players, even if the source would be kinda ok. I refuse to watch a movie in a stupid browser or on a "smart" TV.

You can only get caught if you download stuff that is making serious money. The more money a movie is making, the more likely it is to be monitored. Don't download those on public trackers and you will be fine.

You won't get caught if you use a VPN so your infinitely more likely if you don't.

The eternal battle between poor fags rationalizing their poorfaggotness versus normies who make money but are stupid for spending it.

Who will win? Why does it matter what someone does with their own money? Why are poorfags subconsciously mad at normies for making money? Why does it even matter?

Tune in next week for this same thread.

That literally doesn't happen. What happens is normies get mad at pirates for downloading Jewrays.

Those can easily be found on private trackers.

Plex is fucking hideous. If they just revamped the UI so it didn't look like a website from 2007 it would be GOAT.
