Heres the spoilersIn the future, Logan has secluded himself and says Wolverine is dead. He refuses to use his claws and hasn't used them in over 20 years. There is a war between mutants and humanity after the Essex Corporation forced a mutant to assassinate the US president One day Ice Man and a group of mutants go to Wolverines house and ask for their help in transporting a girl. This girl is X-23, an experiment created by the Essex Corporation from Wolverines DNA. Iceman and his group broke her out of an Essex convoy that was transporting her, and are attempting to bring her to their camp which is lead by Professor X. Logan doesn't want to help, but changes his mind when the Essex Corp arrive after tracking down Iceman. Iceman and his group stay behind and are killed while fighting off the Essex Corp so Logan and X-23 can escape.
Logan and X-23 have a tense relationship, as Logan does not want to transport her there and does not want to see Professor X again On their journey to Professor X's camp, they are being trailed by the Essex Corp and have a few run ins with them. Logan concludes that X-23 has a tracker in her arm, remember he had one in his after the admantium bonding. He takes an axe and cuts it out of her. After one of the encounters with the Essex Corp, they find refugee in an old man's house who offers to help transport them. Eventually the Essex corp once again tracks them down, but Logan and X-23 are able to escape. The old man does not escape and tells the Essex Corp he was threatened to help them, this does no him no good and he is executed.
Eventually Logan and X-23 arrive at Professor X's camp. The tension between Logan and X-23 has thawed by then. Logan is reunited with Professor X, and it is revealed why Logan did not want to see him. There is a flashback, one night the X-mansion was invaded by the Essex Corporation. Wolverine went into Berzerker mode and killed every Essex agent in his sight.

Logan wakes up, and is furious about what happened. Professor X tells him where the Essex Corporation is located, and he heads there with Professor X and a squad of mutants. Inside the Essex Corporation X-23 is chained to a wall by her Essex handler, a sadistic man who conducts physical tests on her such as how much pain she can tolerate and how her healing factor works. He also tortures her as well. The guard from the bunker is speaking to The Director, the one who planned out the assassination and the plan to drug Logan and force him to kill his fellow X-men. The guard tells The Director he did everything that he asked for, and asks him to release his family. The Director reigns on his deals, and tells the guard they are not done experimenting on them yet before killing him.

He is told The Director was waiting for him, and wants to talk to him. He is brought to The Director's office, which is located in a large room. Their are many security monitors in the room, and one features video of X-23's cell. The Director then approaches Logan, and is revealed to be Sabertooth. Sabertooth is upset that Wolverine refuses to acknowledge is feral side, and tells him that they are animals and he intends to bring it out of him. Logan disputes Sabertooth's assertion. Sabertooth responds by trying to enrage Logan, and discloses he was the one responsible for drugging him and causing the hallucinations that lead to many of the X-men's death.

X-23 is attempting to break out of her cell, unaware that the guards are trying to get to her and are a couple rooms away, about to finally break into her handler's office which is very close to her cell. The guards are finally able to get into the office, and X-23 is able to escape. Before they can get to her, Wolverine appears behind them, and the guards trying to attack him. X-23 walks into the hall and is shocked to witness Wolverine killing the guards. After he kills the last guard, he starts to attack X-23, who is struggling to defend herself against Wolverines onslaught. Wolverine, still in his feral state, pins her down is about to decapitate her. He locks eyes with, and has a flashback to his admantium procedure. He recognizes that she has the same look of fear he did, and snaps out of his feral state.

I think they're real, its obvious they are basing the movie off Old Man Logan, where all the X-men died. Unfortunately, Wolverine and a couple others from that story are Fox property, most of the major players are not.
So why did Fox choose Old Man Wolverine? So fanboys would give them free promotion and articles can talk about how its based on the popular arc.
